Hi this is my first post, just found this site today hopefully someone can help. I was diagnosed with ms 4 years ago and am now 22. i live in the lower south island of New Zealand. I have had several relapses but have remained fine for the last 25 months and counting. However i am constantly battling what i have no better explanation of than morning sickness. 6 days out of 7 i wake up feeling as sick as a dog, often running straight to the toilet to empty my bowel and then also dry wrenching.this is usually followed by not being able to eat for hours sometimes most of the day. Ive tried different eating pattens and tried taking all the common irritable foods out of my diet, some things have worked to an extent(dairy and larger quantity's of red meat) and Ive kept with them but im far from working it out. eating earlier in the evening does help a little but by no means brings an end to my suffering.Anything anyone thinks might be able to help with this would be greatly appreciated .

Hey Kiwi,

You sound miserable!  I have had morning sickness and that IS what you are describing.  You have got to get your doctor on this.  This maybe MS related but then again it may be something else.  You need to get this checked.  You deserve relief from this.

Welcome to the board.  Please post and let us know how you are doing.

This Dennis....besides the MS I am also dealing with IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome...from what you are describing this might be a form of IBS...ask your doc to look into it,
It seemed like a good idea at the time

Hi there and good morning - I was dx with IBS way before I was dx with MS....to this day I still at times wake up in the morning, and there are times in the evening that I feel sick to my stomach......so although you should get this checked out just to make sure, I would not be surprised that it is MS related.

Also when I have lots of spacisity in my lower back, my stomach becomes upset as well.

I've read somewhere that there may be a connection between MS and IBS...both are the result of some sort of dysfunction in the brain...

I hate spacisity....I get it in my lower legs, especially at night lying in my bed..I've lterally woken out of a deep sleep because I feel someone is twisting my legs off
It seemed like a good idea at the time

Hi Kiwi man,

I haven't posted on here for a long time.....but the fact that you're a Kiwi got me motivated!  I'm a Kiwi too!  Not many of us on here!  I'm in  Taupo.

In response to your question....I;m afraid I don't have much to add.  I am one of those in limbo....many neuro symptoms???ms.  I am currently undergoing some tests for stomach/bowel issues....potentially Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  Like others have said there's a heap of info out there contecting the two.

Definately get checked out, nausea is hideous for anyone to deal with, regardless of the cause.  You deserve some relief from it!
