Hi, I am new to this forum, I am posting my message about my possible neurological problems. It started with twitching in the arm and legs. Like a vibration twitch. That went on for about a year, then one day in early December 08, I went to get out of bed and my arms had awful nerve muscle pain. Tingling, burning pins and needles in hands and feet. I had many other symptoms that included dizziness heavy legs, consant vibrating, twitching arms and legs. It was followed with a very spastic bladder. Within the first 2 weeks I also had myclonic arm jerking. That only happened at night time when trying to fall asleep, my arms would just fly around. The worst part of the symptoms where the nausea and the fatigue. This went on for 5 weeks, it subsided and eventually the fatigue went away and so did the myclonic jerks. I have seen 2 neuro's who did exstensive blood tests and mri's of brain and whole spine. No lesions. I had a EEG and a EMG and everything was normal. The second neuro concluded that I had Restless leg Syndrome. He gave me Sifrol medication which I have not taken. It is now April 21st 2009. I have not recovered from what ever I have or had. I do feel that it is not Restless leg Syndrome. I am not sure if there is further testing that can be done, but it seems quite impossible to follow further testing here unless there is something they can see. I am frustrated probably like many others. Is there anything you can suggest ????/

I am sorry you are not feeling well.  I don't think I have any advice for you.  It seems like you have lots and lots of tests that would be able to pinpoint MS if that is what you had.  I have never heard of myclonic jerks.  I will have to google that one.

I know it is frustrating not to have answers but it is good news that you have normal MRIs, eegs and emgs.   Has anyone suggested evoked potentials or a lumbar puncture?  Those were helpful test for me.  I never had an eeg or an emg.  Those are more typical for epilepsy.   It has been said that it is possible to get an MS diagnosis without a lesion on your MRI but I don't know anyone personally that has done that.  It seems that doctors feel that MS means "multiple scars".

Good luck.  Feel free to post here with any questions you may have or updates on your health.

I know when I was diagnosed they took a ct scan of my brain 2 MRI's of my brain and one of my spine. I also had very extensive blood work done and 2 lumbar punctures to collect the spinal fluid. I am not sure if what you are describing is MS mostly because a lot of your tests have come back normal, I know what pushed my diagnoses faster was going to the ER when I had optic neuritis the 2nd time. Maybe you can try that when you have an episode with your arms? :-)
