Hey Katie,

You have a little time before you make up your mind.  The H1N1 vaccine has not been released yet.  The regular flu shot is out however.  It is suppose to have some older strain of the H1N1 so it is helpful as well.  My doc has said the same thing.  The flu shot holds a slight risk for us but she believes the flu is a much greater risk.  I have gotten my flu shot every year since my dx and I have not had any problems.  I am getting my regular flu shot this Friday and I will get the H1N1 as soon as I can.

Take care!

Individuals with MS should not get the nasal spray form of H!N1 as it is a live virus.  See web site for National MS society.  My pcp told me to get the seasonal flu shot, but she is not sure if I will qualify for the H1N1 injection when it comes out, as I do not have breathing issues and I am not on an immune suppresant.  She said it would depend on availability.  I plan on calling my neuro about this when the injections become available.

Don't know if anyone saw my post from yesterday or not.  I'm not sure how to use this site just yet.

Anyway I have had celiac disease for about 13 years and have been fine until about 9 mos ago.  I started having nerve pains in my feet and shins.  It went away and came back about 4-5 mos later along with extreme tiredness, depth perception and clumsy hands, balance issues and nerve pain in hands, wrist and arm (just a couple of times) and I have also had nerve pain in back of throat and tongue a couple of times.  I have burning in the back of my neck and across my shoulder blades.  Initially I was told I probably have a b12 deficiency, so I had a couple of injections and took b12 vitamins and my level of b12 is very high and my symptoms persist and seem to be getting worse, so dr doesn't think that is the issue anymore.  I also had my vitamin D level checked and it was fine.

So I went to see a neurologist and I have had 3 MRI's, EMG, spinal tap and a ton of blood work.  My dr is convinced I have MS, but I don't have lesions and my spinal tap was normal.  With the blood work they ruled out lupus, sjogrens, thyroid disease, arthritis and lyme disease.  So I am wondering if anyone knows if I can have early MS and my lesions haven't shown up yet, or is it possible that I have lesions in a spot that it wouldn't show up on the MRI.

If anyone has any info that would be great!  Thanks!

Michelle

The shot will be an attenuated (not live) virus, but the nasal spray one will be live. Rumor has it, its coming in the form of 2 shots. Not sure yet if there going to be staggered or together. Unfortunatly for me, working in the medical field, I have no choice, im mandated......... shocked

I have already received the seasonal flu shot.  When the H1N1 comes out in the vaccine (not the live nasal spray), I will receive that too.  I have always tolerated the flu shot well.  I do not want the flu!!
