My wife was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting MS almost three years ago and i'm pleased to say is doing really well, albeit with a cocktail of meds that keep her on the straight and narrow. We are 26 weeks pregnant with our second baby, so the new year will be another journey into unknown waters.
What should be a really exciting time for us has been marred by the swine flu and the lack of specific information about the H1N1 vaccines in Ireland, so here I am.
We understand that we have to be vaccinated but there are so many question marks.
What are the risks to my wife and baby?
Can it excerbate the MS symtoms?
My wifes GP can't administer the vaccine, the one being rolled out in Ireland is Pandemrix, because of insurance issues. If the insurance companies won't insure because of the risk of libel action surely this raise a question mark over the safety of the vaccine.
To finish off my wifes Neurologist has recommended she take the vaccine as soon as it becomes available.
Thanks for reading.
