Hi, does anyone know of a doctor in the Phillipines who will treat chronic illness in a half decent way?
I believe my uncle has underlying lyme disease (he's diagnosed there with MS), and he's too sick to travel back here.  He's in the hospital, and their prognosis isn't good.  He has an extreme amount of muscle wasting, can't walk, etc.  They're just treating with of course pain meds.  Also, can anyone who was diagnosed with MS let me know if any specific anti-depressant has helped?  You can e-mail me privately if you'd like.  I don't know if the anti-depressant recommendations would be any different for those whom have been diagnosed with MS (tends to be an individualized response), but it's a shot in the dark.  Any information I could gather would be helpful, he's really struggling.  Thanks so much,
Tracy

Tracy!

Wow I am so sorry to hear of this.  I don't know any doctors (or anyone for that matter) in the Philippines.  Cymbalta tends to be popular among MSers since it helps with nerve pain.  Your basic SSRIs are also helpful for many people.  Is there anyway you can get him on abx?  If you think his MS was triggered by Lyme, then obviously that is what you want to go after.

He sounds so very sick.  I am so sorry.  Is he doing steroids?  I know that is a popular MS treatment and it is very counter-indicated in Lyme.   I am sorry not to be very helpful.  That is all I can think of that you might check into.  Best of luck.
