Hello,
I'm finding that the longer I have MS (15 years) the harder is is to remain asleep the entire night.
I fall asleep with no problem, but wake after 5 hours or so feeling uncomfortable due to pain from spasticity and joint pain. My neuro gave me Lorazepam 0.5mg to take as needed before bedtime to help with this.

I am really hesitant because of possible side effects etc. and was wondering if anyone here might be on this drug and could give me any input?

Thank you,
Carol

Hi there and good morning - I take the same drug, also known as Ativan.  I have beentaking this for about two years.  I have no side effects from this drug..what I find it to do for me is:

  • reduces spasticity
  • calms me down
  • takes the weird head fog/dizy feeling away
  • when I get the MS hug, it relieves this
  • helps when I get hert palps

So to me it is great to have.....some days I take .5, some days 1.0, and from time to time I will take 1.5 .....it really keeps me going.  It does not make me tired, but I now have the tendency of getting anxious, or stressed for no reason at all, and it takes it away

No prob...we all need help from time to time and that is what we are here for...also to the list of things that it helps me with that I forgot to mention was trembling, it will slow it down or take it away if I slip one of those magic things under my tongue

Have a great day
Gary
