     Hi Everyone ☺

Went in to my GP for a b12 shot and they copied all of the test results to take to Toronto with me ... was looking thru it all and came across my brain mri... and am totally amazed that this information wasn't shared with me either... there are 2 to 3 deep white matter lesions noted within the right and left parietal lobe region. There is also a subtle white matter lesion identified within the subcortical areas of the right frontal lobe. There are well demarcated oval shaped intermediate signal intensity in comparison to muscle, subcutaneous lesions present at the posterior aspect of the upper neck. Really think my Dr's are incompetent !! My gp is saying that the blood and degenerated cells found in my spinal tap were caused by a traumatic spinal tap and nothing to worry about. Don't know what to think... am totally losing faith in our health care system and so annoyed that they don't even bother to share this type of info with patients. Swear all they know how to say is everythings fine. Hope it's not like this when I go to Toronto..

Just wanted some input from someone on this... what does subcutaneous lesions mean ?? and how are they different from deep white matter lesions

thanks for your help... Can't wait for July 19th !!!

Abbey,

It used to be worse!  It used to be that you could only get an MS diagnosis in Canada if you had 10 or more lesions on an MRI.  I hope things have changed but I am not liking the sound of things for you.  Make sure you have a copy of all your medical reports and records.

Like I have said before, MS is expensive to treat and doctors in Canada are encouraged to not diagnose people with MS due to that cost.  If you seem fine, then you will be treated as fine.

Please tell the very worst of your symptoms.  It should seem like you are about to go out on disability or some sort of government assistance due to your symptoms.  They need to think that the only way to keep you from using up more gov. money is treatment.

I am very worried for you.  Your symptoms and your test results really truly point to MS.  If its not MS, then make sure you have a reasonable explanation!  If not, then keep at the establishment for what you deserve.

Hi Abbey,

Sorry to hear that you doctors have not clearly communicated your MRI results. I agree with Gretchen, you must be persistant in your efforts to get a proper diagnosis. Did you receive an actual copy of the CD with your MRI images? If not, you should request a copy for your records. Please keep us posted on how things go in July.

Good Morning ☺

I have been off work since september of 2009. I'm walking with a cane mostly, and even when i don't use it I'm wobbly. unsteady and very slow moving. A couple of weeks ago while i was feeling ok i did some weed whipping in my yard for about 1 hr and the tremors in my hands were very bad for about 2 days after. I work at Chrysler Canada on the assembly line using a gun all day long to do my job, so this really indicates that I won't be returning to work soon. I am recieving Sick and Accident benefits from work right now, and truly believe that diability is in my future, but have been praying that with medication I may be able to return to work some day.
Every Doctors appointment I've gone to since March I've been using my cane, but I suppose since I have such good benefits thru work and not bothering the goverment for assistance this may be why they are not in a hurry to diagnose me... Thanks for you insight on this Gretchen... but I just really think this sucks. I need to be diagnosed to recieve the meds to return to work !! I've heard of lots of people who were sick, got diagnosed and treated and were able to return to work.... thats what they should be aiming for, not saving themselves some money....

I do have the CD's of all of the mri's I've had and the report of the spinal tap, so I have everything I need and am ready to go... and hope Toronto will provide me with the answers I need..If I have to go thru all of this crap down there I'm not sure what I will do... How about a pycho ward.... that will cost them...LOL Just Joking !!

My Neurologist stated in his final report to my Doctor that I Do not have MS...
I just have one further question on this. He is saying this because there were no O-bands found... Is it still possible to be MS without these... can they develope at a later time... or would they be there all ready ??

Just want to say Thank You again Gretchen and Betterhealth... would be sitting in the dark without you..

O-bands (Oligoclonal) do show up most of the time.  They are present in nearly 90% of people with MS.  I have heard that they show up more consistently when the person is having an exacerbation.  So there is still that 10% of people without the O-bands who go on to get diagnosed with MS.
