Hi, I have been having symptoms that are making me more and more concerned.... In October of last year, my dr dx me with PTSD due to stuttering. Not denying PTSD is part of what I have, but I have also had other symptoms. Sometimes my arms will release unexpectedly while holding objects, making me use caution by using two hands instead of one. At other times, I have had these weird laughing fits where I can't stop myself from laughing (worried my dr will think I'm crazy for this one), one such time, I wasn't able to write my own signature right after having one.
Recently, I have been having severe arm and hand pain accompanied with numbness. Nothing seems to help the pain and the numbness is more noticeable if my hands are touching something. Some of my toes have been feeling numb, and my legs have started having an aching feeling.
I had arm pains before, and the dr I had at the time thought it was inflammation from my ulcerative colitis causing the pain and said there was nothing he could do for it.
I have been having eye pains. And have a shooting pain that goes down my back when I bend forward.
What are your opinions?

I'm sorry you find yourself looking for answers. You must be scared and frustrated. You should make an appointment with a neurologist who specializes in MS or at least movement disorders. The doctor will start with a thorough neurological exam of your reflexes and responses to some stimulation. He or she may consider further testing. If the doctor suspects MS, then he or she may request a brain and spinal MRI, a lumbar puncture, evoked potentials and complete blood work.

Hopefully you will get answers soon and hopefully it won't be MS, but rather something treatable. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted.

Hello Lv1989,

I am assuming you take prescription medications for your ulcerative colitis and/or PTSD. If so it's important to do some research on medication side effects. It is possible for some medications to cause side effects that mimic other conditions.

A good initial resource to check medications/side effects is:
https://medlineplus.gov/druginformation.html

If any of your medications have side effects that resemble your symptoms please speak to your prescribing Dr.
