hi all,

help, please, i am at my wits end.

i am happily married, and intimacy has always been awesome with my husband, but lately, it hurts, really bad.  to the point, i cry.

today, at work, if i sneezed, coughed or laughed, i peed a little.  by the time i got home, i had to shower!

what is happening to me?  does anyone else have this problem??

thanks.

There can be lots of causes for your problems. I'd first check to see if you have a urinary tract infection, bladder infection, even kidney infection.  You'd need to see the doctor for this.  Lots of women, even those without any other sort of disease, can experience this. Our urinary tracts aren't put together very strongly, and injury can cause these problems (having sex, having babies, being overweight..and sometimes, just being female..can all be contributing factors).

If infection and/or injury are ruled out..then yes, if you have MS, it can affect bladder control.  But the stress incontinence you describe -- peeing upon sneezing, coughing, etc. -- is pretty common in women.  (That's why you see all the commercials you see for Poise pads, and other incontinence products, aimed at women.)

...I am not a doctor, nor health professional, and don't pretend to be one, here.....

Hey Stephanie!!

GOOD to see u again! I have to agree with Uppitycats. U should consider all the usual suspects for women first. I too had pain probs before my hysterectomy and still do since. I'm told now that it's due to 'things' dropping and drooping into the wrong areas...so i am careful to notice any changes in how that feels. Otherwise u could also consider anything like endometreosis (sp) which can be painful with intercourse as well. I'm not sure of u'r age, but it certainly could be the culprit. As for the urinating upon sneezing and such...yep...common unfortunately. Too much should be brought up to u'r doc tho. A little here and there isn't anything i worry about, but much and i'd make an appt to see an ob. Take care friend and good to see u!
