hi friends,

I haven't posted in a long while........things have been very busy. Over the past few months, I've helped birth three new grandbabies, and saw the passing of 3 loved ones......

Still no news on my dx. I did seek a second  O. from a different neurologist about the bulging disks in my cervical spine that the neurologist had recommended surgury for.

Several of you had suggested I seek that before agreeing to a surgury that could make whatever it is i have worse.

This new Dr. said  he does not think I need the surgury and it is not the cause of the problems i'm having.

He's been doing lots of blood tests, an EMG......he found I do have neuropothy, but is unable to find out why yet.

Sat. AM i woke up almost unable to walk. The worst spell I've had in about 5 or 6 years now. Even though I have the spells frequent, this was a really bad one.

I had severe pain in both my legs and feet, worse in the right one. Also, some pain in my arms and hands.  The pain was so severe I cried, and I have a strong threshold to pain.

The pain was constant, but I also had very sparp pains as well. Also, my muscles were so tight, felt like a rubber band being stretched too far......

I was totally off-balance and unsteady......Yesteday AM we ended up in the ER, even though the pain was a small bit better.

After blood tests ( all came back normal- no infections) and  some morophine, I was sent home to follow up with my Dr. He is now sending me to a Dr. out of town who works with the MDA Association.

This Dr. says he doesn't think it's MS because of no lesions, or he said it would be rather unlikley....... I'm also having the tightening around my upper stomach area alot now during this spell.

Any input would be appreciated. I'm so tired of hurting.

Thanks,
Paris Girl

Welcome back!

I'm so sorry that you are going through so much.  I really have nothing to help you as far as advice.  Are you keeping a daily log of your symptoms?  If not, you need to so you can take it and show it to each doc you see.

I've not known anyone swho has had that severe of pain from mS but anything is possible.  I hope the new doc will hewlp to find out the cause. Please let us know what you find out.  HUGS!

Hi Paris Girl,

It's so good to see you! Sorry to hear that were diagnosed with neuropathy, that can be quite painful in some cases sad I hope they figure out what is causing it and can make you feel better. What you are describing symptom wise can be attributed to neuropathy, the muscle problems, inbalance, pain. They actually thought my husband had neuropathy at first when he was going through dx because his pain started in his feet and legs which is common in peripheral neuropathy. After they found the lesions though, they discovered his pain was actually from the lesions and not from the nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord like in neuropathy.

I wish you the best in your search for answers. Here's a link on neuropathy, I hope you find it helpful.

Hi,

My neurologist had me come into the office today because my right leg is till hurting alot. He gave me some med. for the muscle contractions which I began to take tonight.

He said if I continue with the "pins and needles" feelings in my legs to call and he'll give me somthing for that as well. He said he at least wants to try and keep me out of pain until I can get into the MDA clinic.

I truly feel like he is going to do his best to find out what this "mystery illness" is....... For the first time in a long time, I have hope for a dx of what this really is.

We are in hopes for the appointment date anytime now. Wait is usually 4-6 weeks though.........but, it's an appoint......

So-o-o-o-o ditto on the "Yippee" .......Rhonda...... I do feel blessed.

Thanks for the support.......you all are the best......

Blessings,
La DONNA
