Can you guys tell me if the company offers an auto-injector? Do you have any experiences you'd like to share about this drug? Thanks.

I've been on Betaseron for 13+ years, now.

Yes, they do offer an autoinjector.  I tried it and found it pretty cumbersome, clumsy...but others find it real useful, so you'd probably have to try it for yourself and see what works best for you.

Without the autoinjector, the needle really is small -- the same size needles diabetics use to inject themselves several times a day, sometimes...and we only do it once every other day.

Most people do experience significant side effects -- what they talk about as "flu-like" -- for the first couple of months, and then it tapers off.  But it really isn't all that awful -- careful preparation with ibuprofen (or tylenol or something similar) before injection, then again the next day, usually gets you through it.  I was working full time at a job that required my driving around the state when I started it..and never missed any work because of it.

The Betaseron company is pretty  helpful for new patients, offering training, and 24 hour nurse access, should you have questions or problems.

And you can always ask here; we'll try to help..  tongue

I've been on betaseron for a little over a year now. The autoject is the only way I have ever done it and for me it is the only way you would ever get me too.

As far as side effects go I really have not had many problems. I've had a little brusing at the site from time to time, though I think that is more my fault than anything else. I did have some pretty bad flue like symtoms in the middle of the night recently after an injection but that is te only time I remember.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and take care,

Pete

I have been on Betaseron since Jan of 06. I also use the betajeck3 its smaller than the first betajeck. I like it alot. I have just a few flew like symptoms but nothing Ibuprohine cant take care of.
I use the 10 setting for arms and 12 for legs, stomach, and hips.
Hope this helps.

Take care,

Thanks guys. You've helped a lot. I like the fact that it doesn't need to be refrigerated. I like to travel and hike so that really appeals to me.
