Just when do u get the break?? I've been dizzy pretty much all day. Felt this WHATEVER coming on the day before yesterday when i started messing up my typing (letter switching and such) and saying stupid stuff and now all day it's been getting worse and worse. Still tho, i've been able to get things done. I went down to my husband's barn for some nails to work on a project i've been wanting to finish and in one room of the barn is a floor that's unlevel. I went in to get the nails and MY GOSH. I got so dizzy and felt disoriented and began to get sick at my stomach and had to hold onto the walls to get out of there! I got out quickly! I've been sorta weak all day as well, but then BAM!!! about an hour ago i lost all life in me. It's like i lay down and my arms are so heavy that even them laying on my recliner above my head, they just roll down and hit me in the head! It's that much effort to hold them in place! Wouldn't u know it hit about 30 mins before my girls were due home. I'm blessed in that they care for each other and today that's a huge blessing. I'm pretty used to these little episodes now and have been able to just take them in stride, but the intensity of this one caught me off guard to say the least.

Rhonda,
Sorry you're having such a bad day.  You might want to call your neuro and tell them whats going on.  I know you don't have any answers but it might help them to know when you experience these episodes.

Hang in there!  Enjoy the cooler weather.  Also, you might try antivert for dizziness, it's called meclizine over the counter.  It will probably make you a little sleepy but it does help with dizziness.  Take care. :-)

Hi Rhonda,

I hope by the time you read this you are feeling better.  I'm guessing that not having a diagnosis yet makes this all the more frustrating and scary.  I wish someone could tell you something!

I know what you mean about the heavy arm thing.  I've had this too.. just lifting an arm to scratch my nose in bed feels like a monumental task.

Wishing you the best,

Shar

Hey Michelle and Shar

Thanks for u'r replies. Let me update. I did call my neuro, both my local and my second opinion doc. (Thanks for that suggestion Michelle!) I saw my local neuro yesterday afternoon just briefly and he ordered another mri. Not sure when that'll be, but most likely next week (i hope). Things are better today. Not so much fatigue and weakness, but sleeping an aweful lot. Still having all the nasty little sensations and dizziness, but i can deal with them. The fatigue and weakness (to me they go hand in hand) are the worst parts. Almost no functioning when that's present. I'm keeping up with all these things and showed them to my local neuro yesterday and i believe that's what prompted his mri orders. Except for the original onset of overt symptoms in Feb '06, this is the worst episode i've had. Quite intense. I'll update once i know more about things and have the mri results. Thanks for u'r help and support!

Hi Rhonda,

Glad to hear you are feeling a little better and you are keeping track of when these episodes occur! Please let us know when the MRI is scheduled and until then take care of yourself.

Hello Rhonda-

Reading ur posts over the last few weeks makes me think that we have a lot in common with our MS symptoms. Everything u describe and when u talk about it is happening to you it is happening to me at the same time! The dizziness has been terrible lately. I just got back from a research out at UCSF (gene study) and was noted to have nystagmus (eye twitching) and right sided weakness. This is all new and I didn't realize this is why I was dizzy and had the loss of balance.

All the other exams done showed a decrease in function (slightly) across the board! Had an MRI done the same day and they handed me the disc of it right there. Although I am not trained to read MRI's there was one second of an undeniable LARGE ring enhancing lesion. Looking at previous MRI's over the last three years it seems that this is an old lesion acting up, I dunno. I wonder if this is why I am feeling like I am getting worse. I dunno.

I hope these feelings will pass for you and I and life will move on! Good luck to you!

Sandy

P.S. I have trouble believing that you haven't been diagnosed yet! I can see a lot of similarities...

Hey Sandy

Thanks for posting to me. I can tell u i've pretty much had all the tests...from a to at least x or y!..and all have been neg or normal. No sign whatsoever of anything amiss. The symptoms, however, are a different story. Funny tho, on my last very brief visit to my neuro, he gave me some ms phamplets to look at. He wants me to be familiar with ms. Hummm...if only he knew just HOW familiar i've become with it. It's nice...in a weird sort of way ;) ...to find someone who can relate to my story. I'm sorry u've had such a bad experience and have all the nasty symptoms u have. It's no fun and it's quite a drain on u'r life. Things pertaining to this thread had gotten much better yesterday, but today is a different story. My entire right side is so weak. That's not painful, but it is taxing. U really can't accomplish much like that. Of course my eye pain returned today, but thankfully it didn't last too long this time. Only about 3-4 hours!! Another good thing, i'm not dizzy!! Usually if i have any dizziness it's gonna be with me the whole day, but today it came and went in only one fleeting time! My arm and leg tho are terribly weak and heavy which, of course, tends to lend it'self to a draggy day. Don't get me wrong...i'm not complaining...things could be much worse! I'm thankful for the lessening of things and the short term of eye pain i had. Quite honestly i hate these symptoms, but for the most part i can deal with them. It would be very refreshing to know what they're from tho and to be able to have a path to follow in terms of treatment and recovery rather than just not knowing. Like u, i hope we can both start to feel better very soon. Did u'r doc tell u anything about the lesion u spotted on u'r mri?? I hope it's not progression, but sounds like it prob is. I'll keep u in my prayers and be hoping for u'r better days.

Hi Rhonda,

If you're having an exacerbation or even a flair that's causing your symptoms, it's likely a red flag meaning no matter what you are normally required to do, you need to rest and sleep if possible. It may take a day or two to start feeling better but it should help you feel better quicker.

I don't personally know you but just from some of what you wrote I would almost bet you're the kind of person that pushes yourself even when you're dog tired. If that's true...KNOCK IT OFF! If you do have MS, it's making your symptoms worse. Even if you find that you don't have MS, it's obvious from the fatigue that your body is crying out for some down time.

If you have a decent support network that will allow you to rest, please take advantage of it. Your health depends on it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be pushy or anything. I'm just trying to make sure you realize that in this situation your health has to come before any previous obligations.

I hope you feel better soon.

Penny

Hey Penny

Thanks! I'll take u'r advice and knock it off! ;) Yes, i'm one of those who push, but at times like i posted about here, i have no choice but to stop and give in some. I've seen what u say is true. A few days of resting is all it takes and i'm all new again...so that's what i did and it helped a lot! I'm glad u posted to this too...i'd called my neuro about this and he ordered an mri...which i cancelled due to needing that day to take one of my little girls to the doc. Now i need to reschedule! about to make that call now! Don't worry about sounding pushy with me at all. Sometimes all of us need to be told things in ways we'll listen. It's fine with me for u or anyone else to just speak their minds and tell me what u want to say. It's up to me to take it the proper way. ;) Thanks for u'r support!
