I appreciate being a part of this chat room, especially since I am considered "pre-MS" by neuros & MDs.  (5 lesions on brain and periventricular leukomalacia)  The PVL causes imbalance, weakness w/numbness & tingling on left side, gait problems, and BIG problems w/cognitive thinking.  PT is helping tremendously w/balance and gait.  (PVL  is death of the white matter of the brain due to seoftening of the brain tissue.  It's caused by a lack of oxygen or blood flow to the periventricular area of the brain which results in the death or loss of brain tissue.  The periventricular area is the area around the spaces in the brain that carry messages from the brain to the body's muscles.  It usually affects preemies or newborns, but in rare occurences, affects adults.)  My question is, has anyone heard of this as everything on the internet is about infants.  I'm trying to find someone who has the same disease.  I've logged onto stroke chatrooms, but still no one w/this problem.  Since my symptoms are like MS symptoms, I can relate easily to each of you.  Everyone on the stroke chatroom sections, have difference problems than mine.  Thanks for your input.

Hi Pegleg,

I'm glad you feel comfortable here and we more than welcome you!  I haven't had much luck looking for info for PVL in adults, but I'm still working on it!  I'll let you know if I find anything helpful.
