Hey all, I was out of work for 8 days due to confusion and fatigue. Had a Dr note.  How do you go about getting short term disibiliey? I know our school has it, and it says up to 24 weeks.  But I don't know if I bring in my test results or the Dr writes that I need "std" .

Thanks Linda

To qualify for CA state short term disability, u have to be off work for 9 days or more and they start to pay on the 9th day. If you have surgery it starts on the day you have surgery.

You should talk to your human resource rep to get a better idea of what you need to do and if you qualify to get std in your state. In CA there is about 6 pages you need to fill out (I find them in my HR at work), give to your doc then send to the state. Within a week you get a phone interview then your first check...

You may want to do a web search and find out that way.

Hi Linda,

It's great that your work offers that and you can take advantage of it.  Here in Indiana it works pretty much like Sandy stated.  Start with your HR dept and make the request.  Hope it all works out for you, please keep us updated.
