What do you all take as far as supplements go?  Is there any you really think make a difference?  Just curious.

Hey Gretchen

I don't take any supplements, but wanted to stick my head in and offer a bit of advise in case u didn't know. Be careful in taking anything that boosts u'r immune system. As u know, ms is a result of an overactive immune system and boosting that further can cause probs. Vitamins A, C and E are u'r prob vitamins to be careful of.

I don't take any. I've been following the discussions on Vitamin D...lots of noise that we don't get enough of that, and there might be some link between a Vitamin D lack and neurological problems...but so far, the jury is out. I try to eat a relatively balanced diet, and while I'm lactose intolerant for milk, I can (and do) eat lots of cheese. So much of our food is already "fortified", I really don't see the need to add much of anything else.
...I am not a doctor, nor health professional, and don't pretend to be one, here.....

Hi Gretchen,

There's a lot of controversy on the subject and we did try some of them that claim would be beneficial to MS patients, but didn't really notice any benefit as far as MS goes.  For overall good health they might be worth a try if you're not getting enough in your diet,  just be careful of the ones Rhonda mentioned.

Thanks guys! I knew about A, C and E. I also knew about not wanting to boost the immune system. I do take a few supplements but like you all I am not really feeling any different. Then again, I don't really feel different taking copaxone. So, I suppose there could be some hidden benefits. Thanks again for the replies.

I take calcium and vitamin D because the doctor told me to take those.  I don't take any other supplements because it might excite my immune system even more and give me another attack.

I don't know if the vitamins make any difference or not.
