What do people here take for pain? My left foot, well my three small toes on my left foot, feel like they are being pulled off with a rubber band. The pain is driving me nuts. I constantly have migraines..I am seriously just so frustrated right now with the discomfort. The doc has given me vicodin and tramadol for pain but nothing seems to touch this rubber band pain and migraines. So I was wondering what does everyone else do for pain if anything??

Hey Theresa

Geez...pain stinks! I just can't take it (i'm a wimp!) so if i hurt i call or go see my doc. I went thru everyone trying to figure out my eye pain and finally we all agreed that it must be migraines. I tried Topamax and it didn't work, but i didn't give it much time. With that kind of pain...and starting out as a wimp too...i just couldn't wait to give it enuf time to see if it was going to work. My neuro gave me Maxalt MLT recently and it has been a God send!! It's pricey if u don't have prescription coverage, but WELL WORTH IT!!! I've had to use it three times in the last two weeks and each time i can say i was totally relieved of the worst pain in an hour. NO PAIN in about two hours. That's absolutely amazing to me!!

I don't have any other pain except my legs. I was dx'd with RLS and take Requip for that. It works pretty well, but still not pain free. In addition to Requip i use Advil or Excedrine. It makes it better. I hope u get some relief very soon. My heart goes out to u with such pain.

thank you so much. I have actually wrote maxalt down I am definitely going to ask the doctor about that for my migraines. I also tried the topomax and it just gave me the jitters.... I will pay anything at this stage for some relief. It sounds like we have the same type of migraine, the eye pressure migraine.... ughhhh!

ahhh...yes. I'm sorry. I now remember our conv on this! There goes that memory prob again! I'm glad u'r planning to ask u'r doc about the maxalt. It truely has been wonderful. Many here use things like neurotin for pain, but i've never used it nor felt like i had the kind of pain to warrant that. Let me know what the doc tells u on this...i'm very curious what he'll give u since we do indeed seem to have the same type of pain. Sorry again for the repeat!

Hi Theresa,

I'm sorry you are experiencing pain, and I wish you the best of luck in finding something that works for you.  Have you checked out the migraine forum?  They might be able to offer you more suggestions.  Maxalt is an excellent medication for onset migraines, it works well and fast but it's not a preventative med.  If you want to reduce frequency, then you might also need something like Topomax for that.  There's a whole lot of migraine meds available and it might take some trial and error to find the one or combination that works best for you.

For your other pain, you could ask about trying neurontin or lyrica.  Many folks use those for MS type pain.  I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you find something that works.  Please let us know!
