Hi all...I come to the experts for advice again... What in God's name can I do for vertigo? I feel like I'm 16 yrs old and I just drank my first 6-pack. When I close my eyes, the room spins. When I walk, I feel like I'm going to tip over...it's driving me crazy! Any suggestions?

Hi My5cats

The spins are a real drag! If you haven’t had vertigo before, you may want to get checked out by your pcp or your neuro to determine why you are dizzy. There are a huge number of reasons why people get vertigo, some that are MS-related, and some from completely different conditions such as benign positional vertigo, an ear infection, etc.

I use antivert (meclizine) when I get the spins. It does not resolve the problem for me, but it will often take the edge off of it. It does make me feel really drowsy, but when I need it that is the last thing I care about.

Here is some information about it:

http://www.pdrhealth.com/drug_info/rxdrugprofiles/drugs/ant1025.shtml

You can get meclizine HCL in OTC strength at most drug stores.

I also noticed that there are several recent forum posts on vertigo/dizziness. You might want to check these out:

1. Mom with MS having major dizziness

2. Anyone ever experience this? (this displays for me on page 2 of the forum page listings)

I hope you feel better soon!

Sunny
