Dear MS folks-
I am usually on Fibro or CP boards, but recently got a "probably MS' dx, like so many of you.
Re disability. Rhonda, I, too live in Mississippi, in Bay St Louis Katrina Land! There is no state disability that I am aware of-only thru employers or paid insurance. My family has been struggling thru the loss of EVERYTHING to Karina, while I have been battling SSI for almost 2 years, this is normal, Still have 6 months to 1 year til I see a ALJ judge. So, to folks in othe states with disability plans, use up everything you can and start your SSI application ASAP.
Nice to be here, Lots of good info-had an MRI for a concussion and ended up with maybe MS,,,have a spinal tap in 2 weeks and another MRI of legs and back and consult w" another neurologist. I am sooo tired of MD appts!! I want my life back-lol.
     Talk to u soon Maggie

Hey Maggie,

Nice to meet you. Welcome!!! We have lots here who, like you, are still looking for answers and a dx. Good luck with your spinal tap and keep us posted. Even though you live in Mississippi, stay away from Rhonda, she is nothing but trouble. Heeheehee.

You have a lot on your plate with the results of Katrina and your SSI application. Good luck with all of that. Ask lots of questions; we have many with tons of information and experience.

love and prayers,
Gretchen

Hey Maggie!

Welcome to the MS board! I'm glad to see another member from down here in the good old south! I hope u'll find lots of answers here and will feel just as at home on this board as the others. I'm so sorry to hear of u'r probable ms dx, but if u'r like many others here...in limbo with lots of questions...u'd welcome almost any answer.

Wow...i may be mistaken here on the disability thing. I'm not familiar with it too closely...my mother and brother in law are on disability, but i've never even applied for it. I'll check into what the specifics of it are for them and let u know. It may just be the SSI u'r talking about, but certainly they are both on it long term..no possibility they will ever work again. I know for sure it's not employment or personal disability ins plans...so i'll see and let u know.

We have MS live chats on Mondays at 6:00pm. It's a great way to get some real time answers to u'r questions. I hope u'll get to join us sometime. Again, welcome to the board!

Hi Maggie,
You have had a rough time of it. We, in New Brunswick in Eastern Canada, have watched with sadness as the horror unfolded and continues to unfold for victims of Katrina. Hope your parents are coping with the loss. It must be so hard for you and stress with an autoimune disease is not good, not that stress is ever good.
I cannot get any disability insurance except Canada Pension Disability which wouldn't support anyone even at a poverty line level....sad but true. So I will have to take early retirement at 60 in 4.5 years if I can keep working until then with this fog brain I have. I am not eligible until then at the earliest. Good luck with the battle. It sure makes one want to throttle the Paris Hiltons of the world, figuratively not literally!!! Glad you found us at this website and keep us informed about any future diagnosis and also your battle to get what you need and deserve.
Dale
