I was diagnosed with MS in may or April of 2006. But since then I have been pretty lucky and haven't had a big attack. I have been on this board for quite a long time but I don't post much.
I am now pregnant. In August I started to have extreme hip pain to the point I can barely walk without a cane. Well the doctor thought it had to do with the MS. I said I don't think so, I would feel more numbing and tingling then just sharp pain all the time. I said I need some tests done but nothing was done, he just kept thinking it was my MS or some type of pressure and it should ease up. Well in September pain was still there so he recommended me to the neurologist (still didn't quite believe it wasn't the MS). It took until the end of October to see the neuro. And he said it wasn't nerve damage or my MS it was something else. The neurologist got some blood tests taken from me. I went on my merry way.
On friday I get a letter from the neuro that says I have plasma cancer cells in my body and that I need to get tested to see if they are benign or not. I am really freaked out and a little mad that it took this long because they just kept thinking MS. Cancer is so much worse then MS. Every minute counts in my opinion.
So the moral of the story is just because a person has MS doesn't mean that you can't get something else. I actually think the process went a little slower than it should have because of my MS. It seems to be the first thing they think of and they put on their blinders and don't think of anything else. It is frustrating.
That is my vent. And if anyone knows some good forums for cancer or cancer of the plasma cells please post the address thanks.
