Hi there...just curious if anyone has any recommendations for hospitals that specialize in Ostomies (and related surgeries) in Connecticut...Fairfield or New Haven Counties.  My brother has a temporary ileostomy that will eventually be reversed and I have no idea who or where to recommend.  Thanks!

Hi Ash,

Yes, he has a surgeon overseeing his case but we are not particularly thrilled with him.  He took on my brother's case when the original surgeon left the practice at the end of 2007.  We haven't been to pleased with either one actually.  I know doctors don't have a lot of time to chit-chat but my brother's surgeon doesn't stop and listen to my brother's concerns, etc.  He's extremely quick and almost seems impatient...not very thorough in my opinion.

Thank you for the recommendation...Unfortunately MA might be a bit too far for us to travel.  If we don't find anyone we like in CT maybe we will try another state!

Thanks Ash - I will touch base with his regular physician and see if maybe he has some recommendations.  It's always hit or miss with hospitals anyway.  Each one has their speciality and each one has good & bad things about them.  Like you said, communication and consultants with different ones will definitely help.

Thank you for the suggestions!  I will check into the website and see if I can find a few doctors to meet with.  Just curious about getting a second opinion.
