Ok i know this may sound vain, but i was just watching the view and they had a little segment on whats in and out for 08 and it broke my heart! theyr saying leggings and the tent and puffy dresses are all going to be out this year! This sucks for me because i've been wearing them alot n e way, due to my recent loss of weight.  They make me feel like i dont look so skinny when i go out. And it also made it a little easier to decide to get the ostomy b/c i figured "hey the lose dresses are in so nobody will b able to see!" but now theyr saying no way.  I dont care that theyr just saying that they're out of style, but i just know that this means they won't sell them as much anymore :o(.  Everything that they showed that was supposed to be "in" for 08 was actually pretty unattractive to me. Except this one dress! o my it was beautiful, but it was of course tight, very closely fit, but classy, something i would've worn b4 i lost all this weight. But i wont be able to wear it with a bag :O(. Oh well i was just venting :O( sorry to seem so shallow.

p.s.
They also did a segment on whats new in the supermarket.  They had this juice called naked juice? n e body heard of it or tried it?  Its supposed to have alot of probiotics (  i think thats the word) i have absolutely no idea what these are but i've seen alot of posts about them.  They also had like gluten, wheat and dairy free pizza and stuff.  But the naked juice caught my attention b/c they said it tasted pretty good, and i hear with an ileostomy u can dehydrate easily. I myself tend to dehydrate simply because i can't find much that i like to drink :o/ i hardly ever drink just plain water....i know...shame on me

n e way, would love to hear ur thoughts

Praying,

Wear what you want. Who cares what is "in" or what is "out." I run around in jeans, t-shirts, and my Florida Gators hat. This is what I like. If you like legging, wear them! If you look confident and happy, then that is what will radiate to the people around you...fashion is nothing more than glorified debt.

PS. The View is mainly a bunch of hype and propaganda ... IMO.

Ash

U know u r totally awesome right?! I'm short and petite too. I'm 5'2 and right now 108 (trying desperately to get back to 125!) u r so helpful u have no idea. I think I need the doc to just get this thing over with so I can stop thinking of reasons not to get it. Once its done I won't b able to change my mind.
I'd love to see the pics, but I'd hate to b a bother. Also, I saw the pic of the stoma cap, at first I thought it was huge but then I realized that u had a tube of chapstick next to it, so it couldn't b that big. So let me know when u were that bikini!!

Praying,

I just recently found a pair of jeans at Kohl's--"Levis instant slimming 512" and the waistband is high enough to cover the bag. I am tall and thin and was able to find a size 4 that is long enough with a boot cut. I don't know if you have this store by you, but maybe you can search the internet and find something similar. It is possible to find clothes and stay in fashion, I lived in sweats and felt frumpy and am so excited to wear jeans again! There are ostomates that find the perfect bathing suit and you can't tell they are wearing a bag. Let's face it, when we are sick, we don't go anywhere anyway and after your surgery, you will have the opportunity to go everywhere and feel so much better. It's all about adapting and I promise you, you will.

Lol! U guys are awesome!
Amey ur right. Its weird how this last episode has affected me. I NEVER used to b shallow or vain or care what others thought of me.
But since dealing with this decision its almost all I think about, the way I walk and look now due to pain and weight loss. And the way I will look after the surgery. I don't know, sometimes I even get mad at myself for feeling this way, I know there are people with far more serious problems than mine.
I guess I was just venting u guys are great

i'm 5'3 too (short people rule!) and i have never had any trouble with clothes so far. those levis are good, I really like the Stamp 10 brand and Apt 9 at Kohl's and the ANA and St. Johns Bay from JcPenneys. They have alot of good things that always stay in style. ALthough I will admit, i am not much into what's in style. Although I am rather vain, don't feel bad about that!
And, I think the view is useless also, lol

Yeah, I wouldn't listen to them! Wear what you want. The best thing to wear is a smile! :-)

Glad everyone's responses have helped and encouraged you :)

I was just going to say that the Naked juice is good. There is also juices made by Bolthouse Farms. My favorite is Berry Boost. And my husband drinks flavored vitamin water. There's a lot of new products out there to choose from to help you stay hydrated.

Thanks u guys! Its nice to b absolutely senseless sometimes and have people who will entertain ur odd thoughts bc they understand. I too think the view is pointless, that's another sucky thing about being out of work, and in pain, once u watch all ur movies ur stuck watching all the garbage on tv! Lol

ME!! Thanx 4 the info, my moms a vitamin water fanatic but I can't seem to find one that I like. I'm gonna pick up that naked juice and that berry boost!

hey there,
ash~i was wondering if i could see the pics too? where are they? i'm 5'2" as well and little. at the moment i have a potbelly cuz i'm 7 months pregnant but i'm worried about what i'll wear when i get back to normal. do your jeans cut off your output above where the bag goes into the waistband or how do you deal with that? i'm living in sweats because i'm home recovering from my emergency ileostomy but when people come over i tuck the bag into my sweats and then the output sort of bunches up above the waistband! arghh. i'm scared that the empire waist shirts won't be as available in stores either and tight shirts are going to become what's in the stores. i don't feel like i'll be able to wear anything too fitted.
praying~i can relate to your concerns, it does feel so vain compared to the benefits of not being sick all the time but it's hard not to worry about this stuff. my belly is sticking out right now so i feel like it's advertising the fact that it has a bag stuck to it (sigh).
thanks girls, for making me not feel so alone. this site is great.

Ok they're up.

It took me a few minutes to get the courage to post them! Lol Even though I know it's not obvious, I know it's there. But hopefully you'll be able to see that you can wear form fitting clothes of all kinds, and still be discrete.

Hope this helps!

Ash,

I just wanted to thank you for posting the pics on photobucket.  I haven't had the time to check them out until this morning and I thought that was a great thing that you did for your fellow "forum readers"!!!

what i do is when i wear shorts i just tuck the very bottom back up under my underwear. but when i wear jeans i lay the bag to the side, like across my belly, to the right then i turn the end up under my underwear also. It is really hard to explain. The output won't bunch up, you can kind of push it down, noone will think anything of it.

summerstorm- why can't i figure this out? do you mean you attach the wafer so the bag is on sideways? i'm folding my bag this way and that trying to imagine how it wouldn't still get bunched up... too bad we can't draw diagrams and post them, haha!

well i am trying to figure out how i would post a pic, i iwll try to explain in more detail. I use a two piece so i can move the bag around. I angle the bag pretty much straight down my leg. then put the bag inside my underwear, the bottom half hangs out. SO then i take the bottom half and turn it up and pull it under my undies, but i pull it so it points to the outside of my body. Then the whole thing is laying flat against me. And when it starts to fill up, it fills up sideways, instead of down my leg, so my shirt covers it completly. I hope that made more sense.
