Sorry Florida, they were your last chance at a Super Bowl.

Anyway, as i was waiting to watch my Pats take on the Jags, they did a story on the QB for Jacksonville, David Garrard.  He was talking about how back in 2004 or 2003 he had pains in his stomach area.  Turns out it was Crohns and he said he had about a foot of his colon removed!!
I was impressed. Mainly 'cause this guy is a pro quarterback in the NFL.  I can only imagine the beating his midsection must take.  Is that a surgery where he'd need an ostomy for a while?  Or can they just reconnect him after they take out what they needed.
Just thought i'd mention it, didn't know if that was a story that people ( at least NFL fans) in Florida knew about. Thought it was a cool story. The guy is huge and looks pretty healthy right now.
As we say here in New England. Bring on the next victim!! yeah

My husband saw an ESPN story on this guy. He got all excited, and now every time, and I mean EVERY SINGLE time Garrard is on the TV, he points out to me - "That's the guy with Crohn's!!!!"
What I thought was funny was hte sappy music playing in the background, and the sad photo montages of him, struggling to walk. Phooey! We all do this every day!
But I'm just making fun, I think his is an awesome story, and I'm glad ESPN told it. The more people are informed, the better, right?

Oh, and BTW, I am soooooo glad the Cowboys lost yet ANOTHER playoff game. This makes me happy. I am NOT a Cowboy fan.

and also- David Garrard gets Remicade every 8 weeks. It was mentioned in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated. Hey, they played a darn good game though- for a minute I thought the Pats were in trouble....so far, the best part of the playoffs was seeing the Colts go down! Peyton Manning drives me nuts.

Wow, so he gets Remicade? I remember doing that ( back when i had a colon) and remember it left me so tired for almost the 24 hours after. Is the story in SI about Garrard and Crohns? Or does it just mention it in some small paragraph. I'll have to find it and check it out.

the story is about Garrard, & there is just a brief mention of Crohn's & his being on Remicade, every 8 weeks- I actually read about it on the Corhn's forum, then went to SI.com & searched for David Garrard. But it's in the most recent issue.
