I just had my surgery I am eating but I don't feel an appetite yet. I never did when I had UC.

Plus I am not urinating as much I'm sure I will soon since I need to drink more liquids.

Thanks

It took me at least a month to get my full appetite back. But I was on TPN for 2 weeks before the surgery, so it was harder for me. Plus I was dealing with some major stomach upset. Bleck. I had UC, too, and eventually my appetite did come back, especially once I felt fine no matter what I ate. It's such a difference.
UC diagnosed: December, 1999
Asacol: 1600 MG daily
Immuran: 150 MG daily
Prednisone: 4 MG daily (Woo-Hooo! Getting lower and lower!)
Remicade: Infusion every 7 weeks
Probiotics 4 billion CFU Daily
Glutamine 500 mg 2x Daily

OFF all meds!! Liver failure, and emergency surgery as soon as liver levels return to normal. ACK!

Surgery August 24, 2007. Home now!

I was not hungry for at least 3-4 weeks. Then one day, I woke up hungry and felt like I needed to eat all day. I constantly wanted to eat but I was not really hungry. A couple days later, my body returned to its normal routine with dieting.

I took ages to get my appetite back, i would sit with my plate and just look at it and play about with it. That was strange for me as i love my food, so it didn't do me any harm not eating much for a while. But about 4 weeks post op i started to enjoy my food again i'm sorry to say and put on all my weight again.

when i was in the hospital i could not stand the thought of food at all! and then when i got home, all i would eat was cheese ravoli, i mean, if you put anything else in front of me i would gag. Weird, huh? but i really had no appetite for a few weeks. You might not pee quite as much right away, but do watch that, because if you aren't peeing enough then you could be getting dehydrated.
good luck!
