HI I posted this in both the UC and Crohn's site's....but you know what-I have an ostomy too so why not post here?

Is anyone going to the CCFA Educational Symposium in Chicago on March 29th?

I just signed up and I am looking forward to the sessions on new surgical techniques (Dr. Fichera), IBD Therapies for the Crohns Patient (Dr. Hanauer), Safety and Effectiveness of Medications (Dr. Sales), and To Eat or Not to Eat (Joan Kanute). There were 16 sessions to choose from and it was hard to pick out just 4!  There are also session on UC and another on colon cancer too.  I went to it last year, learned a ton, and it was great to meet people facing the same challenges.

There is also a great children’s program and teens program-

Wow that was a long time! Glad to hear he is home! Hope he is adjusting well! Still have not gotten my schedule from work yet as to the 29th--it's driving me crazy-It only goes to the day before Easter! I heard my supervisor was working on it though and hopefully it will be out on Monday.

I went to my GP yesterday because I have been having constant right sided back pain that was getting annoying and I wanted to make sure that I didn't have a kidney stone/infection and it came out clear. And I gained 5 pounds since the surgery, I was so happy and when I told the doc, he walked out of the room into the nurses station and said "Here's a first, we have someone here who is happy about the results of the scale!" I mean I eat ALL the time especially at night (which I'm going to have to quit doing when I get the takedown cause I already have to get up 2-3 times in the middle of the night to empty)

Today I am attending a luncheon at my son's highschool for a "Hero" book that the Honors English Students have been working on. It's compiled of stories of people who have had to overcome hardships such as divorce, cancer,or other disability. My son chose to write my story about IBD and how difficult it is to talk about with others because of the embarrassing situations that we have all had to face. I believe that he mentioned how this website has been a godsend to me to be able to talk with others about what I have gone through and the support you get from others who have been through the same, he even interviewed Dr Hanauer and has mentioned him in the book. My hope is for someone to read it that might be going through UC or CD and will not feel so alone and see that another has overcame it and they are not alone. Although I hope they don't make me stand up or anything because I will probably faint!

Hi all!

You can register the day of the symposium too-since you have to wait on your schedule. It was great last year and I am looking forward to this years!
