Are there any tests that can be done to see if the colon has healed.  My Dr. just post poned my reversal to let it heal more.  But he did not check anything just said we needed to wait longer.

I'LL TELL WHAT MY DOC DID...HE SENT ME FOR A CT SCAN WITH CONTRAST OF ABDOMEN/PELVIC AREA AND ALSO AN ULTRASOUND OF THE SAME. BOTH SHOWED NO INFECTION AND HE FEELS CONFIDENT TO PROCEED, I'M 4 MONTHS OUT FROM COLOSTOMY AND BOWEL RESECTION DUE TO DIVERTICULITIS. I SURE WOULD ASK HIM about THOSE TESTS

Did you have any blood work done?  Sometimes there may be some elevated counts that they don't feel comfortable with.   I can imagine you are really anxious to have the reversal surgery done, but it is better to wait and let things heal completely the first time rather than have the reversal, then have the same horrible problems come right back.  Be patient.  Ask your doctor those questions.  That is what you are paying him for - his expertise and his communication to you.

There were no blood tests or anything. I went in for a check up thinking he would start setting up for the reversal. He had told me in Jan that I could have it done in Mar. When I asked if there were any test to see if it had healed. He said it would be better to just wait. Oh I had the colostomy in Nov 07. Due to abcesses
