Actually heard it on the show. I'm not a country music fan either, but he's definitely a good guy! He was saying how he put on a show one night while experiencing horrible stomach pains, went to the ER right after it was over, and had 18in of colon removed that same night. I guess there are more of our kind out there than we think!

I'm pasting a list I found: former Vice President Hubert Humphrey and President Dwight Eisenhower. The late Queen Mother Elizabeth of Great Britain who was over 100 years old before passing away and the late Moshe Dayan, former Defense Minister of Israel. Rolf Bernischke, ex-kicker for the San Diego Chargers has an ileostomy. So does senior PGA Golfer Al Geiberger.

I personally haven't heard of most of these folks but it's nice to know they exist. One place also listed Bob Hope.

napoleon had one, also Tony Snow, the guy who used to do the talking for the president has one. there is a surfer too, not sure if he is a celeb exactly, but he is apparently a photographer in CA and does alot of potrtaits for celebs, he has a website, and i cannot remember it for anything, but he is in his bathing suit in the pic, and you would never know
I love trace adkins though, and i didn't know that. I have seen him in concert three times at least.

Can you even imagine having a bag long ago before they had the great adhesives that are available now?!?! Is that why Napolean had his hand in his coat all the time...checking his bag?

Being the Charger fan that I am, I knew about Rolf. That's part of the reason he retired. He had UC and his weight had dropped to something like 120 pounds. Poor guy was then diagnosed with hep C which he got from the blood transfusions.

Who's Trace Adkins?

btw, I have Rolf's book Alive and Kicking.  It's a great read. He went on to play 7 seasons for the San Diego Chargers while he had his ileostomy :)

I have had an ileostomy for 32 years now due to UC.

Marvin Busch was one of the keynote speakers at one of the UOA conferences I went to many years ago -- I think it was in Westlake OH. He was just a regular guy when I met him, down to earth, very congenial. I even had my picture taken with him!

i think that is why Napoleon was doing that too!
i had a thing before, i think it's on Shaz's website actually, about the first stuff they used for ostomies. One of the first ones was just cloth attached to your side. Ick!
Trace Adkins is a singer, he sings country music, he was also the runner up on the celebrity aprentice. He is really really tall, and rather hot!

Back when I first had my ostomy in '89, I used to care of the labeling and mailing of our local ostomy society newsletter. Bette Davis was on our mailing list. I gotta believe it was the movie star because how many Bette Davis' have a mailing address of Beverlt Hills?

You'd be surprised just how many do. Eisenhower and  Tip O'Neil just to name a couple.
