I'm planning on having a colectomy later this year for CI.  However, a few years ago I was diagnosed with acid reflux, and it's pretty bad.  I've elevated the bed, take protonix during the day and zantac at night.  When I had my endoscopy three years ago, I was diagnosed with Barretts esophagus.
I'm convinced the acid is a result of food sitting inside me for so long.  I was wondering if anyone else ever had a problem with acid that was helped with having a colectomy?

I have GERD, and so far (my surgery was March 18th), I don't see a difference.  Maybe a little, but not much.  Sorry ;(
