Hi,

I had a total colectomy and have had severe chronic lower abdominal pain since (plus functional problems).

Has anyone had any kind of epidural steroid injection for pain in that area?

My understanding is that this procedure is for lower back pain but the doctor knows where my pain is but I'm still have doubts and would really appreciate any feedback anyone may have.

Hopeful-I do know of people who have had chronic back pain and the epidural worked for them...but it was for back pain, not abdominal pain.  If you aren't comfortable with your doctor's suggestion, maybe get a second opinion from another specialist.  Have you had any tests done to see what is going on?  That might be a first start.  Good luck and keep us posted!
