Has anyone had joint pain after being off prednsione?  I was on prednsione for like 1 1/2 years and then did the surgery.  about 1 week after being totally off predsnione, my hands started to hurt and now it is my feet, hips, elbow, knees etc like 8 weeks later.  I have read that joint pain is a side effect of prednsione withdrawl but how long does it last?  I called my cleveland clinic doctor and they would have to see me but that is a 3 hour drive so I do not want to go to the doctor if it is just a waiting game.  Plus, I am finally med free so I have no interest in taking any meds.  If I know that it will eventually go away then I will live with it.  Just wondered

I was on pred for 2.5 years prior to surgery. It took about a full year for the joint pain to diminish. I didn't do anything about it (see a doctor or take meds) and just exercised my way through it.

Hi Sue,
So did you just ache or sometimes even have a hard time walking etc. I am not like totally unable to do stuff but there are some things that are pretty hard to do. Very few physical things do I do where I do not feel achey or hurt. Bending at the knees is really bad. Sitting indian still on the floor and getting up is almost impossible. I have been working on our kitchen floor (installing tile) and it has about killed me.

My pain was at its worst after activity. I would go for a 10 mile walk and then after sitting was barely able to get up without being in severe pain. I don't remember (this was 7 years ago) much other than it took a long time to go away.
