I'll try to make my story as short as possible.  I went to have a planned c-section on 3-27-07.  Everything went fine until two days later.  All I remember is getting sick and having "watery poo".  (the nurses even asked if I was urinating or if it was stool)  I guess I had C-Diff.  (not sure how or where or when I had this)  I woke up about 4 days later in ICU.  I had the "bag" and was very shocked.  I was in the hospital for 3 weeks because I had a c-section and 2 days later had several feet of my intestine removed.  Three months later on 5-31-07 (yes, one year ago yesterday) I had the reversal done.  Everything seemed to be going okay.  But, over the last month, I have been very sick. Three different times I have thrown up and had HORRIBLE pain right between the top of my scar and under my chest. sad it's like right in the middle of my belly).  I almost can't stand the pain.  I end up making myself get sick because I know something needs to come out and my bottom burns sooo bad.  When I got sick, something "popped out" and I pushed it back in.  Today I woke up the same way again.  (Only this time when I got sick, the very bottom of my tummy hurt so bad, I screamed.) The only thing I had last night that I had last week when I got sick was Ice Cream. I don't think it's something I'm eating.  On these days when I'm sick, my stool is very clear. This is nasty, but when I burp, it smells the same as my stool.  I just wanted to know if anybody has ever had this kind of problem one year after the reversal.  I'll take any advice.

Thanks

I'm sorry you've had to go through all of this and are having pain. sad I suggest calling your gastroenterologist tomorrow and tell him/her what's going on. Good luck, and please keep us posted on how you're doing.

Ditto...I would definately say to call your GI and explain EXACTLY what has been happening.  Make notes so you don't leave anything out.  Keep us posted and sorry to hear you've had to go through such a difficult thing!

Ditto again! In fact, take the same statement you wrote here and read it to the GI. There is NO sense in suffering like that.

HurtsAlot,
I've been thinking about your symptoms, and it reminds me of what I went through when I had a small bowel blockage a few months ago. Scar tissue had wrapped itself around my small intestine and blocked it off causing sharp pain and vomiting. This is something that can happen after any abdominal surgery, like a C-section. The smelly burp you described is a clear sign that the contents of your small bowel are backing up into your stomach. An intestinal blockage is very serious, so please call your doctor first thing tomorrow morning, or go directly to the ER, if you continue to vomit.

This does sound like and obstruction and if it's frequent you really need to see your surgeon.

HurtsAlot,
How are you doing? Did you get to see the doctor last week? I hope everything is okay!

The Doctor that did my surgery moved to Texas last year after my last appointment so I didn't have a doctor to go to. I spent all last week trying to find a doctor that would know what's going on with me. Finally, I have an appointment Monday morning at 9:45. The burps and the pain came back on Friday, but it wasn't near as bad as it has been. Something else really strange - I didn't have ANY bowel movements at all yesterday, but finally one this morning. I will let you all know how it goes tomorrow.

Please tell the dr ALL of your symptoms, and try to remember what you ate before each one of your episodes, just in case the dr asks.

Blockages are quite strange. The thing to remember, if you get nauseated and you have abd. pain, seek medical assistance. It is really easy to get dehydrated.

Keep us all updated on your appt. Good Luck to you.

Went to the doctor today.  He is having me get an ultrasound done on my Gall Bladder.  If that comes back normal, he has to go in and look in my stomach.  He said it's not caused by what I'm eating or drinking.  I'll let everybody know how my ultrasound goes on Wednesday.  Thank you.

I had my ultrasound done this morning. I was woke up pretty early with the pain and sick feeling again.  After my ultrasound I called to let my Dr know that I was hurting again.  He decided it's time for a Colonoscopy.   mad  I go Friday at 11:00 for it.  I'm very scared/nervous.  I just hope they find what's wrong.  If any of you could give me some information on a colonoscopy I would like to know anything you would like to share.  Thank you!  I'll let you all know how it goes on Friday.

well you have to take that nasty prep, maybe i am not sure how it works for people with ostomies, or who have had some of their intestines out. But what they do is take a little camera on the end of a long hose looking thing and stick it up your bottom. You get knocked out, so you don't remember it, you get the fun drugs, the ones that make you feel all floaty, lol.
I dont know how long it takes, because i have always been knocked out, but then you go back to your little cubicle and you stay there until you get "woke" up, sometimes the dr comes in and tells you what he/she saw, or sometimes they have you come back to an office appt. The worst part is that they use this gas stuff inside to help them see better and sometimes it hurts afterwards for a while until the gas gets out. It sounds really scary, but it isn't as bad as it sounds.
i hope you do get some answers and get to feeling better.

Today was my appointment and it went a little different then what was planned. I told them I wanted to be knocked out so I couldn't feel anything at all, but the Dr had other plans. He said that since I only have about 10 inches of my colon, it was only going to take him about 1 or 2 minutes to look. So, he at least numbed my bottom but he didn't find anything. He decided he wanted to look in my stomach right after that. He put me to sleep and put a camera down my throat to look in my stomach. The only thing he find was "Esophagitis". It's where there is a valve that's supposed open and close to pass food and mine doesn't open at the right time. He put me on some medicine for 6 weeks. Hopefully this is what's really wrong and everything gets better. Thanks to everybody for your prayers, thoughts and comments.

You never want something to be wrong, but when it happens, you at least want a diagnosis, so you can treat it. I hope this is what has been causing all of your problems and that the medicine gives you complete relief. Please keep us posted on how you're doing!

Take care,
Cecilia
