Summerstorm prompted me to ask everyone What they have learned form having an ostomy?

She shared this:
After a run in with a fire ant hill, i have discovered hydrocortisone cream will loosen your wafer from your skin.

I will add:
Zippers on jeans fresh out of the dryer will melt plastic and never play with a puppy naked.

Anyone else?

If you're a clip user, when emptying in a public bathroom the safest place for the clip is in your bra.

I have also just learned (lucky me!) that adhesive remover wipes remove gum from inside of a dryer.

I was just toweling off when the pup was jumping around me. I bent down to 'scruff' her on the head ... she jumped up ... the rest is history. Nothing kinky there ... :-)

ok, that is much better, i was getting really distubed, lol.
I went to a friends house last night, and they have this dog that kept trying to jump on me, and i know my friends thought i was awful, cause i kept trying to sort of push it away, i was terrified it would pop my bag!

I've learned that dogs just love to sniff my bag-- bringing attention to that area of my body. So its pays to carry a few dog treats to divert their attention. Now I know ya'll don't believe that but it might help????

Dogs love it when they can sniff your butt without you having to stand up ....

I think a line in Shawshank Redemption kinda sums it up for me......"Get busy living or get busy dying"!

I have learned that my ileostomy doesn't stop me from doing whatever I want to do :)
I have had an ileostomy for 32 years now due to UC.
