And I am still paying for it!  On Friday, some of our friends drove 1 1/2 hrs to spend the weekend helping us install lighting in our new home, and that evening I ordered Chinese takee outee instead of cooking.  Well, I thought I ate "safe" foods, but evidently my gut didn't think so and I have been paying ever since.  Yesterday was absolutely awful - my abd was so distended and horrible pains, but I was still passing pure liquids (so, as usual, I knew it wasn't a total blockage).  I kept pushing clear liquids all day.  No luck.  I finally gave it about 5 p.m. yesterday and came home.   The worst thing for me to do is to just lay around tho it hurts to do anything else.   My friend was here with me all evening, and of course, there is nothing anyone can do to help but look helpless!!  Finally about 3:30 a.m. I took some pain meds cuz I was so exhausted and needed to get some sleep.  I slept off and on til about 10:30 and I still am having the pains but I believe it's a little better.  Abd. is sore to move, still pushing liquids today - nothing that has to be digested yet.

Sorry for the whining!!!   I really hate it when this happens and it gets me a couple of times a year.  And, I never can predict what the perfect combination is that will "get" me!!!  Not being in control of that really makes my frustrated and angry.  And I just don't have time to be out of commission right now.  I know, I know, I'm still whining.

So, I know Cece has had a blockage.....  hers was worse than this one as some of you know.  Anyone else .....  who had the raw fruit issue?  Summer maybe?  Can't remember.

Again, sorry for the whining.  I promise I won't make it a habit!!!!!!!  :)

Yep, Summer, I believe that was it!  Who was that anyway?  I can't remember.  Thanks for the pitty party -- I just needed to vent today!  There is so much stuff going on in my life right now and I don't need to feel crappy.  I get grouchy when I feel crappy.

Awww Peggy (((HUGS))) I'm so sorry you have a bad episode. I ate some Bar BQ ribs w/ fries the other day and that set my small intestines off. They were very sore and painful. I finally took enough Xanax to calm them down. It's been two days and the pain has finally gone.

I totally understand how you feel. You have so much to be doing right now and to be out of commission is very frustrating. I understand hon. I really do.

BTW, I'd love to see pics of your house *Big Smile* If you take some would you please email me? :)

Hope this 'passes' and you're feeling better today.

Thanks, Kim. It's been a hard couple of months. Last night and today has been the icing on the cake.

I think I may have to take a Xanax and Bentyl again today too. I just tried eating some pudding --- we'll see. Guzzling some water now!

Oh, Peggy, I'm so sorry you're in pain... again. sad You've been through enough already. I hope the pain meds give you relief and you feel better quickly.

Please don't feel bad about venting. We've all been there and can completely sympathize with you.

I think it was sfgiantsjo who had the piece of orange sticking out of her stoma.

So solly ( an attempt at a joke) Peggy,
I hope you are doing soooo much better . You know, I sometimes forget I have this old stoma and eat bad things only to panic later when I remember. So far no blockage but it could have happened several times-especially after eating that orange!!

Tanks Girls!! I still feel crappy - belly still really hurts. I'm eating some butter crackers right now... drinking my cranberry/black cherry juice w/ water mixed about half and half. I'm addicted to it, esp as a slushy right out of the freezer. I did get some laundry done, laying down in between each load.

i haven't had a "blockage" yet.  my intestine DID manage to twist itself somehow though, so it acted like a blockage.  horrible pain for many weeks, i was on a liquid diet.  doc put the scope in, and it straightened everything out, no probs since.  if i'm ever unsure about foods i just throw them in the blender and call it soup...!!

Peggy,
Was just going post you and see how you were doing. Sounds like you are having a horrible time. The pain pills help for a while and drinking lots of water and juice help too.
I'm so sorry your having such a problem, mabe you should go to the ER and see if they can help you. I know what it feels like to have a blockage as that is how I ended up with the ileostomy.
Right now I'm having a horrible time hurting and I think I might be in trouble again.Guess I will be having some test done tomorrow.
Hope you are better.
You are so smart about everything and have helped me so much along the way with so many things. You seem to always seem to have the answers for everyone.
Was going to ask you a few things but don't want to bother now. You have problems of your own.
Hope you are feeling better now.

Hey Peggy,
You are allowed to whine when you get blockages! They are rough...I have had many, there is pretty much nothing you can do, but if you are still a water fountain tomorrow you should probably go in to the ER and at least get some fluids.... I have found that warm baths and just massaging my belly sometimes helps...or not, but I think it might help so I do it anyways. My killer has been potato skins (how can something with cheese and bacon be so painful?), raw fruits, and I hate to admit it, because I should have known better.....but celery with boursin cheese (but it really did taste good)! The other blockages I had were just random and I have no idea what triggered them, but they were all painful, so whine away and take care of yourself! Nancy

Well, here it is almost 11 a.m. I attempted to get up, shower, get ready for work, drive there and spend a total of 2 hrs working before I hung it up and gave in. I'm back home laying down now. I still have horrible stomach pains exaserbated by food - any type of food - crackers, toast, pudding. It is passing but with a lot of discomfort so I am still being a whiny baby :) Lots and lots of gurgling, and I really "feel" all of the gurgling! I'm also having radiating pain down the inside of my left thigh and around to my lower back. All of that is the norm for me tho. Just really frustrating but I still know that if I'm like this for a few days out of the whole year, that is still better than having CD any day.

Jennie - thanks for the concern but as long as food is passing, there is not really a lot they can do.  Maybe plug me into IV's, and feed me pain drugs (which I can do) but I'm more comfy here at home.  I am better than Saturday and Sunday, but I think I am sooooo sore internally that anything passing thru sure hurts a lot still.  I never did get nauseous or throw up, no fever so there really isn't anything they can do at this point.  I've been thru this same scenario several times ---  just gotta give it time to work itself out.  If it was the first time this happened, I would recommend anyone go to to the ER or contact their doctor.

Still whining!!!

Yes, Cece, I am finally feeling some better.  I ate a baked potato last night and part of a plain burger from Wendy's.  Hurt for about an hour, passed slowly and then the pain settled down.  Now, I am wondering if it is just a kink or scar tissue...  awwwh the wonders of our intestinal system!  I have been working from home this week so far including today, except for the one day I tried to go to work and sit at my desk which lasted all of 2 hrs.

Thanks for asking.

Wow Peggy, that chinese food really did a number on you. I hope your intestines calm down and the pain goes away soon. ((HUGS))

doesn't that just sound cool when you sing it?
