(incision in the middle) but i honestly felt better last week. yes i did do things i "shouldnt" like lifting things that are not heavy but maybe 15 pounds .I feel like my stomach is like buldging out some.. anyone have this. and is this normal. will it just take time to heal the rest of the way......
i am a photographer. and this is my busy season. and i am thinking i will not be able to take photos this summer or fall.
my surgery was june 20th and my 6 weeks is aug 6th. what do you all think.. i had a subtotal colectomy.(10 inches left)
i appericate any advice.
also i found out i have blood clots in my hand and arm from my IV. but they said it might go away on its own. We will see what he says on my 6 weeks check up.

well, I didn't start doing anything until around the 8th week (and didn't really feel like doing anything)...I may have been cautious, but I didn't want to delay recovery...about 11 weeks I was doing everything I used to do

mommyphotographer, I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling so well. However, I am feeling the SAME way. My energy level is up and it is much easier to move around, but my colon is VERY sore!!!! It's like I can FEEL the food moving through my stomach... Over the last few days I have been very sore on the right side of my stomach, then the left, in my lower abdominal area. Sometimes it's a dull ache and sometimes its a more crampy feeling. And I have TONS of gas. (And the smell is aweful- do you have that as well? And will the TERRIBLE smell ever go away, anyone know???) My BMs have been way more solid, so it's my guess that the food is getting more solid, and my colon's getting used to that. I go to the doctor tomorrow, so I am going to ask about this- I will let you know what he tells me. (I will email you back mommyphotographer... Sorry I haven't, I've been working on my master's and haven't been too faithful with emails. :) ) I hope you start feeling much better!

six weeks low residue

you know what i just discovered, is that one of those tablets in the toilet tank, like the clorox ones, when you flush the toilet the smell goes away!

Six weeks?? I don't know why I was thinking three.... Ugh! I am craving a SALAD so bad! Will it kill me if I have one?

And thanks for the tip, summerstorm. I'll have to try that. :)

well actually lettuce is on the low residue diet, just regular iceberg not the fancy kinds and take the middles out, i think it's called the heart. You can buy these things (at least around here) it's made by fresh express and it's caused shreds, it's lettuce already shredded into small pieces. THat is what i always eat, that way if i dont get it chewed good enough, it's already small! if you want to eat some, eat a tiny tiny bit, but just so you know, ranch dressing makes it smell horrible, lol!
