This is way off topic and has nothing to do with anything, i just wanted to complain for a few minutes, well actually there is a little to do with ostomy stuff in here.  So, just pretend you read it and post something like, oh that's no good, lol.
So, last friday (not last night) my husband's laptop caught on fire, then last saturday i had to take my kid to two b-day parties, one of which was at an arcade type place and we may as well have been playing in the batrhoom, that place was nasty!  the second was a pool party with 12 kids who noone was watching, except me and a friend, and we weren't asked to watch them, we were just doing it cause noone else would.  my kid kept getting fussed at by other people!
Ok, then Monday, our AC caught on fire, that was super fun.  So we go without air for like nine hours, heat index of 103, house gets up to like 90.  I had to take my son and pass him around from family member to family member to keep him out of the heat!  Well we got some people to fix it, 2100.00!!!   they replaced the whole thing, not the part outside, the part in the house.  So we think maybe home insurace will pay, so we call them and the adjuster says, "well i understand why you had someone come out right away, but you should have called and gotten numerous estimates, the part may have been able to be repaired instead of replaced"  I said "IT WAS ON FIRE!!!" i am thinking once something like that catches on fire, you don't want it reparied, i mean there was like these huge mess of melted wires and all, it was bad, we are lucky the house didnt' burn down.  The guy is talking like he wont' pay and i am really wantign to say, "well i guess we could have had it repaired and then you could have paid a huge claim when our house burned down" but i didn't.  Anyway, they did eventually end up paying.  So the rest of the week just had random annoying things happen, nothing really big. Last night, i am going out with friends, and we are taking a diff car than mine and they don't know baout my ostomy so i am trying to figure out some way to get my bag with extra clothes and stuff in their car without being weird.  So what i finally come up with is, saying i had brought a pair of jeans incase the place we went wouldnt' let you wear shorts, so they say, oh you can wear shorts in there thats fine. So i say, oh well i dumped part of my pocket book out in there earlier today and didnt' feel like getting it out, so to cover my tracks, i actually went and dumped my pocket book into the bag!
THen today yet another b-day party where a little girl ran into the road, my son following and when i yanked them out of the road (noone was watching her) and tell them not to run in the road again, i get dirty looks for grabbing the little girl, and telling her not to play in the road, i wasnt fussing or anything, just saying we shouldnt get in the road.  never mind i just kept them from possibly getting run over by cars.
So then i come home and am talking to my Mom on the phone, heading out the back door with some food for my cat.  I go out the door and look down and there is a copper head coming up the steps!  it's on the second step up, there are four steps.  Over half of it's body is still on th path so it's a big snake!  That was fun.  So i tell my Mom to get my Dad, and then i have to run in the house and tell my son to stay in his room, not to come out for any reason, he thinks he is in trouble.  I told him that cause lots of times my Dad has to shoot them, cause they get in places you can't reach, and also my son can go out the back door and does often.  So then, for some reason, i run and lock the front door, thinking that is going to help something.
Anyway the snake got killed, i got lectured for not weedeating, and then my Mom lectured me for having low self esteem.
Ok i am done now, lol

crap happens! i hate when little things like that all add up though. pullings kids off the road is good though, regardless of what the other parents think-my street is littered with young kids and they always play in the road, what the hell?!? it's like driving through an obstacle course every day. i never (friends not either) played in the road when i was a kid, that's what driveways and backyards are for!! anyways it's in the past and shortly monday and a whole new week will start!

"and then my Mom lectured me for having low self esteem."

gee mom, that's a big help. Nothing raises the self esteem so much as being lectured about not having any. nono

But I digress: sorry you had such a chitty week. It seems to me that once one thing goes wrong, everything else looks way more dramatic than it would otherwise.

.....sankes (scares me too much to even spell it correctly) on the back stoop, my worst nightmare. My sister found one curled up in her pantry once. I always said Thank gawd I live in a cottage on piers! but now you're saying those boogers can climb stairs? GAAAAAAAAAAAA

Geez!! I hope your week gets better!!! Sometimes after reading your posts it is so eerie how much your life mirrors my own!! --except your past issues--hehe Also, I too, am a mom and I've noticed the number of parents that actually watch their children is quite small. It annoys and scares me!

it is amazing how few parents watch their kids, and what makes it even worse, is that since i am actually watching my child, it makes it seem like he is causing more trouble, cause i am actually telling him not to go into that room, or not to mess with that thing, or whatever, and these other people aren't even noticing.

I know, that was so nice of my mom to lecture me wasn't it? she was like, i dont' know why you have such low self esteem but you need to get over it or my son would have it too. I was like, yeah that helped mom!

oh no that's not good!

J/K! Sounds like you had a sucky week or so! I hate it when things are one after the other like that. Plus I'm sure the last thing you needed was a lecture!
One thing about it is NEXT week can't get much worse, right? I'll send you tons of good will and prayers, so it will!
If at first you do not succeed, then skydiving is surely not meant for you.

Yeah, I'd say you've been through enough for one week!! sad It can only get better, or at least, that's what we hope!

You have the gift of being able to tell stories of bad things happening while making them sound funny. I think you have GREAT self esteem!! :-)

S/S you've got quite a story! Don't bother with what others say, they do not live in your shoes. I ALWAYS watched my daughter when she was young and you are so right, parents do not pay attention(I would always stay at birthday parties when they were not in someones home and I didn't feel like I was intruding)! It doesn't get much better, i hate to say, she's 14 now and most parents have checked out already!

I know you are supposed to listen to your parents, but they don't always know best! My mom can say some of the dumbest things it makes me wonder why I am the way I am...NOTHING LIKE HER!! Ha Ha, I love her, but she can drive me nuts...

well today i find out that the reason the parents of the little girl gave me a dirty look is because they told her it WAS OK to play in the road. WHAT??? Who tells their kids that?
I said something about it to my sis and she said, "the reason they looked at you like that is because they told her to play up there" and i said, "well from now on i will just let kids play in the road i suppose"

Ce-Ce you jinxed me!!!! LOL!!!

I went to change my bag today, and i have been changing it the same way for almost a year, with no problems. So i had been swimming, and when i go swimming i fold the bag up on itself and completly tape it flat. Well i came in took a shower and got out. Got my stuff ready, put the brown bag that i throw my stuff in right below my bag, what i do is stick the tail of the bag in the brown bag, then peel it off and dry as i go. Well, when i go to pull the tape off, it pulls the bag loose from the flange!!! and of course, the bag is full, it wouldnt' have happened if it wasn't! And poop went flying everywhere!!! It was so nasty, and there i was all newly showered and clean, with poop all over me, dripping down on the floor, ick! i had just told my husband i would be out in about 8 minutes, my average change time, and so i say, it's gonna be more than 8 minutes! It took me probably 10 squares of cloth to clean me up enough to put a fresh bag on, i just can't bring myself to get in the shower without the bag on. And about half a bottle of clorox to clean stuff up! ICK is all i have to say

summer if there's n e thing i've learned its that we ( ostomates) are some of the most resourceful and resiliant people on the planet. If we can get thru this, then what a little air conditioner fire?! lol

Also, showering w/out the bag isnt that bad, my stoma hardly ever puts out, you dont have to spend the extra time drying the bag...and the clean feeling is indescribable...mayb u should try it when ur home alone one day...whats the wors that could happen? a fire on the shower head? lol

probably!!! the reason i can't do it, is because the poop would run down my leg to get to the drain, so how would i ever get my leg clean?
