I had my surgery Tuesday, 12th, to make my ileostomy permanent.  I am in the hospital now recovering and unfortunately have developed a bad case of hick-ups.  Man they are annoying.  The surgeon said that the rectum and colon that were left were swollen pretty good so she had to take her time removing them.  This will finally have me over my UC which took an evil turn the first of the year so I am grateful that I am able to say "it is finally over".  I am a little sore in front and sitting without pain is almost impossible but it will heal in time.

Oh yeah, plenty of bowel sounds.  In fact we just had the bag pop off from a large amount of output.  They probably should have used a one piece instead of two piece out of surgery, oh well.  They have moved me from clear liquids to full liquids and I think plan on that till at least tomorrow.  This is my second surgery, the first was to remove everything but what might be needed if I wanted the j-pouch.  I opted to go with a permanent ileostomy so this second surgery they cut the rest out and sewed me shut.  The first was lapro but this one she went in in one spot so just cut me from pubic line up to naval.  I was a lot healthier after the first surgery but I did have UC with that little bit that was left.  Now I can feel that I am completely cured, it is an awesome feeling.

Isn't it great to know you are fininshed with UC? Like Peggy said , take it easy and don't overdo it.  You and little Leo will become great friends in time, I predict. In my case, feeling really better took a few months, but everything bad about UC is gone, gone, gone.
