Think of it this way... In an emergency situation, the patient can't do a prep. It's not like they're going to make someone with, say, a perforated bowel drink a gallon of laxatives before they'll operate. I work in an OR and the only thing I've ever heard about
them not liking to do surgery without prep is because, well, it just doesn't make for a very pleasant atmosphere, if you know what I mean! But there is plenty they do to get whatever is left out of you to make sure you're nice and clean on the inside. So don't worry.
