Can somebody please tell me if a NG Tube is always required during a J-Pouch Surgery?

Is there a less painful alternative?

I don't have a J-pouch, but I haven't have one since I've had my ileo...did have them when my plumbing was intact. Will you be having an temporary ileostomy? I am sure Suebear will be along with some good info soon! Good Luck with your surgery!
