Hi all, well my scar is healing nicely. I did develop a potassium deficiency which requires me to be put on a supplement. ( causedd by going to the bathroom so much) also reason for return of my swelling to my face. I am doing ok, just taking it one day at a time. There is hardly any pain now and all in all I'd say im doing fair. Tommorow is my birthday. I get my g tube out this sat. I am able to do housework and exercise more now so thats a plus. with all that being said hope everyone is good yeah wink tongue

Hopestars,

Once you heal, you will be a different person. You will feel better and feel like living again. Best of luck to you and don't push yourself too hard.

1997: Diagnosed IBS
2003: Pelvic floor repair surgery
2006: STARR surgery for mucosal prolapse/Obstructive Defaecation Syndrome.  Also diagnosed with slow transit
2007: No difference. Had MRI scan showing a partial volvulus
2007: Therefore surgeon recommended a sigmoid resection which resulted in immediate colonic inertia
2008: Now contemplating colectomy as I need to take up to 30 senna tablets daily for some kind of bowel movement (albeit not 'normal' or all at once).  In discomfort/pain most days.

Scared to have TC as told I could become incontinent - but looking to have surgery before end of year hopefully

hopestar how is your potassium doing ? How low dos it go ? I have been having this problum off and on for about 8 weeks but no one knows if it is becouse of only having half my small bowel or because I am on a strong antibiotic. Just have to wait and see. My potassium gos to 3.1 and my heart rate has gone down to 52 to 54 (use to be 62 to 70). Did you know that baked potatos with the skin on has more potassium then bananas.Dos the potassium give you bad dierriea?
