I used the mini pouches, but I hated the "mess" when changing back to the regular one...my husband doesn't care either way...so I don't bother changing it any more!

I would love to hear more about the stoma cap. I just figured it would be messy, too. I wonder if the stoma stops working because it is so close, but goes crazy when it comes off...

haha, a claustrophocic stoma!

seriously though, i'd like to hear about these caps too, sounds nice. but i don't think your stoma ever really stops working, or at least mine doesn't.

You can't wear a stoma cap with an ileostomy. And, even with a colostomy, you better make sure you have super regularity to be able to wear a stoma cap with any confidence.

A Stoma cap is "doable" for intimate times, as long as it doesn't last all night!! hehehe turn

Minis are better, since you can go a couple of hours before having to empty, but I don't recommend wearing one overnight. I did that once, and I thought it was going to explode!! shocked

My husband is like Ohio's, he could care less about the bag, so I just wear a maxi all the time.
I also like to wear a short nightie to bed and then just keep it on during intimate times.

Hope that helps! :-)

Stoma caps are usually for those with a colostomy only - and then only those who irrigate and have reasonable control over when their stoma will output.

A friend of mine with an ileo decided to give them a go once regardless and soon gave it up as a bad joke cos she always ended up in a mess cos it didn't hold enough volume.
I have had an ileostomy for 32 years now due to UC.

P4H--I don't like when the stoma is active while the mini is on...then, to change back there is always a mess around the flange and it can get caught were the pouch meets flange...a mess that keeps on giving...that's just me though and like I said my husband doesn't get freaked out about the larger one, so I don't bother to change anymore:)

i am glad i am not the only one who has that problem changing from bag to bag ohio76!
i tape my bag up on itself and then put that belly band thing over it, that way it's covered.
