I had surgery #4 on Friday, this time to remove my gallbladder. Luckily, they were able to do it laproscopically, so I am was sent home the same day as the surgery. This was my first laproscopic surgery, all the others were open. My surgeon sent me home with vicodin, but it isn't doing much to dull the pain. I can barely sit up straight, with all of the pain under my ribs. It hurts worse than my open surgeries! I am thinking that maybe this is because I just had the surgery a day and a half ago, and usually, with open surgery, I am in the hospital on the "good" stuff at this point. So I'm crossing my fingers that maybe this will get better sooner rather than later? Has anyone else had gallbladder surgery lapro? How long did it take for the extreme pain to ease up?
If at first you do not succeed, then skydiving is surely not meant for you.

I had my gall bladder removed in May by lapro.  I had vicodin too and it didn't much to help.  I had a total colectomy with the reattachment in August.  I think most of us with all these issues have a high pain threshold.  I'm not advocating this, but I added Tylenol PM with the vicodin.  It took the edge off.  My most intense pain didn't let up for about a week.  However, I went into the surgery with extreme dehydration and exhaustion.  Plus, they fixed a hernia, did a DNC and took off endometriosis.  My body couldn't heal as fast.  The countless people I talked to about the surgery were back to normal in a week.  One lady was back to work as a surgical nurse in a week and a half.  Remember too, the gas they pumped into you has to get out.  That will cause you serious pain in your back.  Walk some to help it.  If you've never had a lapro, it is alittle surprising.

I hope this helps.  And I hope you feel better soon.

I had my gallbladder out on the 13 of nov. but mine was open. With the lapro surgery most of your pain is from the gas that thay fill you with.So you really need to walk because some how it helps your body release the gas.I dont know how that works I just know that thay say that it works.I have only had 1 surgery that was lapro and that was when I had my tubes tide 5 years ago and no one told my that the gas was going to make me hurt so much. When my DR. asked me if I wanted some pain pills I did not think I would need them because I have given birth to most of my kids with nothing. It was a friday and my DR. went out of town that weekend so I had to suffer all weekend long then my sister who is a nurce told me about the pain from the gas on tuesday and that I should have been walking all weekend long.Any way hope you are feeling better.
