SCARY topic, huh?   Well, here's my question.  My supplier, just a small town DME supplier, told me yesterday that they are not going to be able to continue to give me the prices they have in the past on my supplies since my insurance (Anthem)  isn't reimbursing them to cover their costs.  They say there is a "generic" that they can get that would NOT cost me any co-pay.  Obviously, this is not something that I would have ever looked into BUT she showed me a pouch and a wafer and to be honest, I was quite impressed.   I use Convatec 2 piece... and it was very, very similar.

So, my question, being the blonde that I am, I have a horrible memory when it comes to names and I can't remember the manufacturer's name on the box of pouches.  It started with G-E-N....  I think.  Maybe G-E-N  something, something A-I-X?    I have been looking on the internet and have not been successful.  I do remember seeing that it was manufactured in the UK for distribution out of Florida.  I may have to call them on Monday cuz this curiosity is killing me.   Any ideas anyone????

Peggy, here's the link:

http://www.genairex.com/

I just went to my favorite "go to" site for ostomies: UOAA.org and it was on their suppliers list!

I'm checking it out right now, too!

OK, just checked it out doesn't look bad, but no VELCRO:(

They also have those convex inserts you use...let me ask, do they go on the side that touches the skin or inside where the pouch attaches?

Thank so much for finding that web site for me!!!  I should have thought to check out UOAA but I didn't.

I don't use the velcro so the clips are fine with me.

The convex insert is placed inside the lip of the wafer, right where the pouch snaps on.  The pouch is a little more snug to the wafer, if that is possible!

Thanks again Ohio76....now I will check it out.

I don't think that it is a question of obtaining NON generic.  It's that I am considering my cost thru this supplier.  They are thinking about making all of their ostomy products un-assigned meaning that I will pay for them.  I guess my insurance is not even paying my DME supplier's cost of the products, let alone anything additional to keep them in business.  So, if we don't choose the generic, they lose money.   It's all business.  I'm wondering if I should "shop" around too.  I've read about some other places  and many years ago, ordered from Edgepark.  Where do you all get your supplies...????

Last year, I ordered some extra supplies, actually I ordered the Medicare allowable amounts rather than just what I needed.  So, I'm stocked for a few months.  It will give me time to shop around too.
