What's it like after getting surgery? How many times do you go to the bathroom? Is your stools solid? What is there to expect besides being UC free? How normal of a life do you have?

Which surgery are you referring to?
J-pouch, ileoanal pull through?, colostomy, ileostomy, or something else?

I have a permanent ileostomy and live a completely healthy, normal life.

I only go to the bathroom when I feel like I have to pee and then empty the pouch at the same time.

Expect to be healthy and have lots of energy! :-)
Dx'd Crohn's in '99 at 28. Proctocolectomy and ileostomy in '06.
Disease-free, medicine-free, and very thankful to be healthy again :)

Ditto to flchurchlady...my diagnosis is Crohn's, but I have been happy AND healthy! There is always an adjustment period after surgery, but everyday is better than the last:)
