Hi I'm new here. I've recently gone thru several surgeries. In the beginning of Dec, I had to have repairs done for prolapses of the intestine, bowel and rectum (enterocele & rectocele). At the same time a recto/colon specialtist was called in because I had a condition called an intussespection (tunneling of the bowels) and had to do a STARR procedure where they remove part of the bowel and resection it back with staples. I had many complications and was rushed back in that night due to a hemotoma that burst caused a muscle behind the vaginal wall to blow out. I lost most of the graphing too. I spent 5 days in ICU receiving 8 units of blood and 2 units of platelets. And then another 2 days in a regular room.
11 days after being released, I had to return to the surgeon as I had developed a recto/vaginal fistula and had waste coming thru the vagina. He performed emergency surgery the next morning to place a stent in my rectum to cover the staples and the hole from the fistula. He also gave me a temporary ileostomy. The stent came out on its own about a month ago but since then I've had so much difficulty with nausea. My blood pressure has been low and I am lightheaded alot. I am trying to drink tons to make up for the ileostomy. He prescribed something for nausea but doesn't think it's related to the ostomy.
Has anyone gone through this? Is it normal or is this a whole separate thing going on? Should I consult a gastro specialist? Any suggestions at all would be so helpful.
