Hi everyone,
I have not posted for a couple of months. I wanted to know if anyone has had pain and hardness
around the stoma. the pain got so bad I had to go to the hospital. The E.R. doc thought I might have
scar tissue. He stuck a tube in my stoma but nothing came out. The C.T. scan showed blockage but
not scar tissue. My stoma was three times bigger than normal. I had very painful contractions and
stated throwing up. The next day they said I might need surgery. i had a visit from the surgeon
and he said I should start taking mineral oil every few hours 24 hours later I felt better. That was
two weeks ago and I am still having some painful contractions. I had my colon removed a year and
a half ago and i thought it was to soon to have scar tissue. Anyone had this experience before? the
only thing I have changed recently is I started running. I have not eaten anything that could cause
blockage. Let me know what you think. thanks, Fruitcake

Fruitcake,

Here is some information re; scar tissue that I found really informative:

http://www.adhesions.org/index.htm

My blockages (partials) have been caused by food. Or a kink in the intestine. They are painful esp when they work their way to the area right behind the stoma.

Hope you feel better soon. Maybe you should just be walking for a while and see if the running might be doing something to cause this pain for you.

Thanks Peggy, I will check the info site you sent me.. I have gone back to walking for now. I forget that when you don't have a colon things kind of move around a bit. Sometimes I wonder if the disease has
come back. Have you ever heard of anyone having C.D. return after the colon is removed? Sometimes
I feel like I am having a mild flare. My doctor said my blood work is inconclusive. What ever that means.
