Hi y'all!  Guess what??  I ate pizza and wings Saturday and it didn't bother me at all!!  The wings were pretty hot and I thought perhaps they might be hotter coming out than going in..lol...but they weren't!!  My favourite snack food by far is popcorn and I haven't eaten it since I had my ileostomy last Sept.  Now I can and I am so thrilled!!  My dear sweet hubby did the groceries yesterday, and guess what he brought home??  A CASE of popcorn!!!  I kid you not!  24 bags of Orville Redenbaucher!  I laughed so hard!  Do you think I may have mentioned missing popcorn at all??? lol!!  I haven't had any yet though...I knocked a temp crown off a back tooth and have to get to the dentist this week for the permanent one. (always something huh?)   Then WATCH OUT!...it'll smell like a movie theatre here!!!.....I am still having some problems with constipation.  I am trying different things.  I take Metamucill and prune juice in the morning  and so far this is a winner... wink   I am still enjoying the little things post reversal...like sleeping through the night without empting my pouch...LOVE IT!!!!....Have a great day everyone!!!~ yeah ~~~Cheryl

Cheryl,

Be very careful with the popcorn, but by all means, give it a try --- small quanities at a time is my recommendation.

I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed your pizza n wings; that sounds so good!  I have to admit though the ONE thing the doctor said I absolutely cannot have yet is popcorn.  I'm hoping soon she will say I can because I too share a love of popcorn and with three boys in the house it is terrible!  I finally got mean and had to ban it from the house, lol!! Seriously!!!!

I really am glad you are feeling better!  It's good to hear you sounding in such good spirits.  love ya!

She said it's because of the hull; it would cause me a blockage. You'll have to tell me how good it is, lol!!

Woo hoo ~ Pizza and wings!! I'm so happy that you're able to enjoy some of your favorite foods again!

I love popcorn, too, and eat Pirates Booty instead, since it tastes like cheddar popcorn, but doesn't have all the sharp edges. You can eat popcorn, just go easy at first to see how it goes. Enjoy!! smilewinkgrin

Just don't sit down and eat a whole bag of popcorn at one time (LOL) ....better with other food in your stomach/digestive tract and drink lots of fluids.

Cheryl--my doc said to keep soft for 6 weeks post op...I wouldn't try the popcorn until at least the 6 week mark...but after that, small quantities:)

The Pirates Booty might help the craving until then...

I had pizza a few days ago and it was nice not to have to run to the bathroom. I had mild wings also- afraid to try the medium or hot. It does feel god to be able to eat more, so I know what you mean. Of course, I have an ileostomy right now and even with my rectum still attached ( I'm having the 3step), life is better.

I didn't realize the popcorn was off limits when you have the jpouch- at least for a while.

Enjoy.....

Ha ha ha Summer you're cute!  There is a place here called Wacky Wings and they brag about having a type of wing (I think it's called Suicide Wings) that are the HOTTEST ever....they even make you sign a disclaimer before they will serve them to you....SERIOUSLY!!...I am not that brave.  They have another one called "Jessica Alba Wings"...supposed to be cuz she's hot?? Musta been a guy that named that one for sure!  I love wings too, as long as they're not TOO hot!!

I want to go after my surgery and have a fiery hot vinaloo curry.  I haven't had that in years because of UC - now I am trying to find the sunshine where the sun dont shine - and it is things like Indian food and ice cream that I am looking forward to.

love to all

They do have some hotter, called, i think chernobyl that i am going to try next time, but i was worried abotu them burning on the way OUT now that i know that doesnt happen imma gonna try them! Plus, you will notice that spicy stuff gives you more gas.

I mispelled it sorry, Vindaloo is a fiery hot Indian dish - usually made with lamb, but they use anything now from shrimp to goat to vegetable versions.  I adore hot Indian food - and my UC hasn't permitted it in years.

Anybody else like Indian?

I just discovered that I really like Indian food, after years of my husband trying to get me to eat it.  I didn't think that I liked curry, but I do.   Anyway, I really love Dal and rice, tikka masala, and the list goes on.  In fact I made chicken tikka masala (with a canned sauce from our ethnic food store) and it was really pretty good.  Our best Indian restaurant is about 1 1/2 hrs away.  We only go there when we are in Indianapolis.  I don't venture to the really hot and spicy stuff, but that is because of stomach ulcer issues and NOT the ostomy.  I used to eat tons of spicy stuff.... and still love it.  It just doesn't love me anymore!!!
