Right now I have Loratabs 7.5/500. They aren't doing much again.

I'm afraid another ER visit might be in my near future... My pre-op appt is the 16th and then the surgery will be scheduled for a day within 1-2 weeks following that date

Kaycie,
Don't suffer - call your doctor. If you are in pain, there are other types of drugs that can be tried to help you cope until surgery. Sometimes anti-spasmodics will work, like Bentyl. Maybe even something like xanax. Please call your doctor.

Definitely call your doc...there isn't any reason you should suffer until your surgery! I say that from experience...I suffered:(

Thanks Peggy & Ohio - I have Levsin - Bentyl would just konk me out as I had that in the hospital. I now take .25 Levsin (instead of .125) every 4-6 hours - I can have up to 12/day (.125). I also have Xanax (.25 & .5), Phenergan (constant nausea it seems!)...

I guess my problem is my disease is primarily in my rectum.

Just ready for surgery... as my surgeon told me months ago.. "When you become dependent upon steriods, it's time." Ever sicne I went off the steroids in December, I've just been sliding down the hill....

Kaycie,
Before my surgery, when I had CD in my rectum, I not only was taking oral pain meds, plus all of the oral steroids, but I was also using hydrocortisone suppositories, cortenemas, and then for pain - belladonna and opium suppositories (specially mixed and made for me back then), and lidocaine gel. I did this for months trying to avoid the operation at age 23-24, with no luck. I take Bentyl now only as needed, but I found that I cannot tolerate Levsin. When I tried it years ago, I ended up with a bladder infection and that is really rare for me. My dr and I decided that the Levsin just relaxed the bladder too much and it wouldn't empty all the way, causing the infection. Isn't that weird? Relaxed the wrong soft tissue! The lidocaine gel helped to numb the area, esp after bm's. I had anal fissures too.

Hang in there.. just be sure to voice your concerns to your dr. about this pain management to get you thru. Don't suffer.
