ugh--I am just plain miserable. Still filling up the pouch with bile and leafy looking stool. I lost 12 lbs which puts me at 89. Not good. My left side still hurts--been trying to massage it and use heating pad. So gassed up probably b/c I can't eat. Been getting more fluids down but don't feel like eating and not sure I should. ???? Seems like vomitting has stopped--thank goodness--was so scary.

Surgeon says not a blockage b/c ostomy is working so well. May have scar tissue or partial blockage. Will see him tomorrow. Maybe go for ct scan or ultrasound.

How long does food poisoning or a stomach bug last with an ileostomy? Any thoughts?

Sorry I'm such a complainer--just so frustrated.

thanks for care and concern. Surgeon says no blockage and just not sure what is causing pain--doesn't really know of a cause. Sending me for an ultrasound to rule out an abcess but he really doesn't think there is one. (had wanted to do a ct scan but no way I could drink and pass all that contrast after this weekend's green D and flourescent green vomit). Did a cbc. Food poisoning/stomach bug symptoms are subsiding and stool is thickening. I'm just so scared and so tired of this back and abdominal pain. Not my finer moment. mad sad

thank you for asking about me. Things have been better today. Nausea has subsided--seems to come back when I expend a lot of energy. Appetite coming back. Pain stays away when percoset is on but comes right back when it wears off. Perhaps I overdid it prior to the food poisoning/bug--and I'm feeling the effects of vomiting. UGH. Can't believe how weak I am!

Parents were here today to help me--get lunch, do laundry, straighten up. Thank goodness for family--I am blessed. Going for the ultrasound next Monday. Hopefully just some muscle strains and no abcess.

THANK YOU for the support and concern!!! I hope I get back on the wellness path soon.

Sammies,

I'm so sorry you've been so sick. sad Protein shakes with banana blended in might help you put on some weight and won't be so rough on your system. You're in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Hang in there! :-)

I am so hoping you are feeling better - You must try to get your weight up somehow.  I loathe those protein shakes, but is there anyway you can do that?

love to all

Thanks for the care! I am up to 94lbs--yay. Today, I was able to truly eat all three meals. I can't believe how weak I still am--went grocery shopping with my brother yesterday. He took everything off the shelves, bagged, etc. and I still almost passed out. Dehydration I think. Loading the fluids. Frustrating as I feel I've stepped backwards in my recovery. Blood pressure was quite low and pulse high on Thursday--visitin nurse was concerned enough to call doc. Fluids and protein---had to start my PT exercises over too. Well, I did try pizza tonight--took off a good deal of the cheese. Gas-x here I come!

Thank you for the support--I don't know what I'd do without all of you!!

Could not believe the difference once I started to drink G2 (second generation of gatorade - much less sugar). Really helps with keeping energy up and hydration.
Just trying to get through each day.
