I'd been on prednisone for so long b4 surgery, that I forgot how bad my seasonal allergies were!!

Itchy eyes, itchy throat, itchy ears, Sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose, cough. I got it all. I'm miserable. The only thing helping is benadry. and it jsut knocks me out......

Not that I'd EVER trade u/c for no allergies, but I do miss having clear sinuses.

I've just forgotten how to deal with them.

I know...my husband shot me the look of death when I mentioned one night that I missed that god-awful drug.

I have body aches again.  OUCH!!!  Also, now that the swelling is gone in my face I have the most ridiculous crows feet!  I was actually just telling Jeffrey last night that prednisone is another form of botox b/c as your face swells it tightens the lines!  I aged a lot while on that drug, so now that my face is back to semi normal (still pudgy from gained weight), I have MANY more creases and laugh lines that pre-prednisone!

But I agree...never would I trade my life now for a life with UC and the steroids again just to be free of the body aches.  I'll suffer with stiffness before EVER taking those little white pills again!  I've also said that if I have poison ivy or something that my doctor feels prednisone would help...my response would be that I'll take the rash over the roids, thank you very much.

I would never take pred again either, but I have to say, my house was spotless when I took them, because I never slept! ;)

Chassity, have you ever tried Claritin or Zyrtec? I wonder if the OTC versions of those meds don't make you sleepy.

Gosh,

I thought it was only me !!!! Nothing else works for me. As soon as I get off my pred, my eyes start itching so bad!!! Zaditor helps a bit but only for a little while.

With that said, I'll still NEVER go back on pred unless I HAVE to :-)

Yeah, I've tried antihistamines galore. The zyrtec helped me b4 pred, but now it doesnt!?!?!
So I've been doped up on benadryl. And I have to take 2 capsules. So tired.

After my last surgery in 1984, I swore that I would NEVER ever take any prednisone orally for as long as I lived. Well, I did stick to my guns for a long, long time; until I got poison ivy on my stomach - way too close to the wafer. I told my dermatologist that I would take Anything. It cleared up in just a couple of days. I really didn't want to take them orally, but weighing the options ... oral prednisone was the best answer.

when i had those ant bites last year, i had some like right next to my wafer it was horrible! I cant take benadryl so my dr wanted me to take pred to help reduce it quicker, and i said, NOPE no way!!!
I took some zyrtec which helped, but made me sleepy. But mainly i just suffered, i couldnt put cream on the ones near the wafer, thats how i learned hydrocortisone takes that bad boy right off! lol.
So this year when i got ant bites AGAIN at least iknew what to do, i got way off topic, lol.

It will have to be something horribly terribly awful to get me to take pred again!

I haven't been on pred in years, but I was on Imuran up until last year...and boy, my allergies are horrible this year! I just do the Claritin thing (hate drowsiness) and suffer when it doesn't work:(

I thought I was the only one who had that happen...but, as usual, I'm not alone...I love this forum!!
