Ok so there must be an eaiser way to put these sure seals on, or noone would use them!

The past couple of times i have made the biggest mess.  Two times i had to cut one in half to patch up the mess i made!

Summer,

I think you're the one who got me using them!
But what i do is cut one side of the seal, so i can easily wrap it around the wafer without pulling the bag through. I put the cut side on the bottom, under the bag.
If the wafer is to big (sometimes they are) I'll cut another one up in pieces and surround the exposed part of the wafer.
They work so well. I love them!

(temporary ileostomy....maybe)

summerstorm...I've finally got it down to a science, so let me tell you what I do!!

I cut the WAFER smaller (I use Convatec, so I really just make the paper part "round" instead of square) by using the Sure Seal as a template (so I know that the seal is BIGGER than the paper part)

I do everything as usual for my change, then BEFORE I put the pouch on, I put the Sure Seal on. I don't trim the SS anymore, just peel the clear parts (both pieces) off and apply making sure I pull the big crater on my stomach flat so the seal fills in. Then I peel off the white paper and if there are any "bubbles" around my crater I can usually just put my finger on the bubble for a second and it will stick to my skin.

I think the trick to my method is that I trim the wafer paper...that way the SS will fit the first time without patching all the spots like I used to.

Good Luck...i hope this helps! I know that, for me, I would not have had such consistent wear times without it :-)

my sure seal is bigger than my wafer though.
And if i dont trim it down it covers up what little of a bellly button i have left and gets all stuck in there, i know that sounds weird, lol.

What size of the sure seal do you buy?

Thanks for the detailed description!

aren't the seals supposed to be bigger than the wafer? That's how they keep them dry.

I buy the small size...The bigger ones have a larger center hole, the small fits right up around the ring where my pouch attaches...thats why I trim the tape around the wafer. I still wonder who thought of using a squared shape when everything else is round...hmmmmmmmm

Oh, my first order of Sure Seals I did get the larger size and used to cut/paste/patch all the time...for me, the smaller size just makes things easier :-)

see i bought the small size the first time and it wasnt big enough. And so i got the bigger ones, but the hole in the middle is too big!
So i should order the smaller ones!
Ugh i had a bunch of small one and threw them away. grrr.

thank you!
