Hi - I am new to this but here goes.  I had an ileostomy in 1978 due to UC, my surgery was done in an emergency as I had a ruptured bowel followed by many setbacks.   After 30 years of normal life, raising 2 children (the youngest born 2 months before my surgery) I have been having a lot of leakage problems.  I believe it is because my stoma has tipped to one side and everything comes out sideways!
Any suggestions?  Has anyone had their stoma repositioned - thoughts!!  Thanks in advance

Welcome!! have you tried a convex wafer? Not sure if it would work in your situation, but it might pull your stoma out a little more so it can empty into the pouch...has your weight changed recently? I notice, even with 5lbs, I have changes in my stoma.

I don't think it's too hard to have a revision, my surgeon always talked like it was easy enough. I haven't had one yet, but I might with this 'new' one!

Glad you found the forum and let us know how it goes:)

LeenieBeth,

Welcome to the forum. I'm glad to hear you've had 30 years of good health!

I had a temporary droopy stoma for about 3 months (it pointed downward), and the only system that worked for me was a Convex Wafer with an Eakin Seal. It was like a push-up bra for my stoma! smilewinkgrin

If you decide to order some, the system I used was the Coloplast Assura Extended Wear Convex Wafer #14249 with matching pouch #13986.

I would also talk with a surgeon about what's involved with getting a new stoma, because you've lived long enough with leaks!
